Lots of cherry blossoms/sakuras everywhere in Hase-dera (長谷寺). Both pink and white can make the atmosphere pretty, growing next to lands or water are also tremendous.

Beautiful. I miss cherry blossoms in Japan. We have some here in Sacramento, but nothing compare to this! I like Nara, always recommend people to go as people tend to go to Kyoto because it’s famous. It’s only an hour train ride from Kyoto.

Hi Chako, Thank you again for another enlightening video from Nara. I read a legend about how Hasedera in Kamakura came out to be, that is, Tokodo who carved two Kannon statues, enshrined one in Hasedera in Nara and set adrift the other in the sea which washed ashore near Kamakura. Hence, Hasedera in Kamakura was built. I don’t know if there is much debate about the validity of the story, but it is very interesting indeed! It is so awe striking to see the wooden temple and the treasures inside it built over 1,300 years ago still standing, serving its religious purposes and giving joy and tranquility to those who are lucky enough to visit there. And the natural beauty surrounding it with cherry blossoms and other flowers, who could ask for more? Thank you for sharing 🙏 じゃあまた。 Shin from Colorado

Yes, I've heard that legend as well, and it's entirely possible that it's based in truth. We don't often get a chance to make it up to Kanto area, but in the future I've really liked to visit Hasedera in Kamakura as well.

Watching your video, I really enjoyed my reminiscences of several visits to the Hase Temple together with Muro Temple when I lived in Osaka. Dogtrees might be called ハナミズキ(hanamizuki) in Japanese. If my knowledge is correct, Dogtrees native to North America were sent to Japan by USA in return for Japonica cherry trees.
