Please note the Silverado 2500 HD isn't available with an optional T-bar shifter in Australia. It's just the standard column shifter, as seen in this video.

It is built for a purpose, and that is to tow and tow well while being legal. To the princess's having a sook about the size, would you rather look at one of these that affects you in no way shape or form or would you rather continue to have people driving around in overloaded vehicles operating outside of their design parameters. Grow a set, ya bloody sooks.

Not really. Just more people wish to do it legally and in comfort and with some serious torque. Previously they illegally overloaded Landcruisers and the like. Far safer doing it this way

And the Duramax is the lowest torque offering from the 3 manufacturers. Ford is the current leader with the High Output Powerstroke at 1,200 lb ft /1,626nm. I have the HO Ford F450 and it makes a 9,250lb/4,200kg vehicle feel quick.

Wonder how many will buy these as a touring vehicle. At this price we are looking at similar figures to what I can only assume it costs to chop the end off a Land Cruiser and spec it, if not miles cheaper. I know it doesn’t have the backed reliability and serviceability of Toyotas but to be as capable as this and with this power out of the box it would need to be one to consider.

I can tell you in gallons... I get about 16mpg in city and 23mpg in hwy/mountains ironically. The city stop and go is SO VERY expensive in this big heavy girl. 36 gallons (sorry no idea maybe 2 million liters?) tank and so you basically get about 500 miles (maybe 3 million hectares or whatever you guys use) per tank.

I don't know about L per 100km and fuel economy numbers are not required to be published by manufacturers. Normally a diesel 2500 is going to get between 20 and 24 mpg. My F450 diesel (4.30 final drive with a 10 speed auto) averages right around 17 mpg when not towing, or not towing anything significant (4T is not significant for the truck). That works out to 13.8 L per 100 km.

LCT not applicable on these. A new LC 300 with mods and GVM / GCM upgrade etc, makes this Chev a very sensible proposition. The price in USA is not very relevant. This is Australia, not USA Aussie $$$ is currently low v USD Plus, Shipping costs to Australia, then very thorough Re-manufacture to RHD by Walkinshaw. Factory backed product, sold by GMSV Not converted and sold by an aftermarket company, who does not have OEM / GM support etc Annual sales of this in Australia will be about 500 vehicles. GM probably sell 100,000 of these per year in USA, hence the price difference.
