Sounds cool. I like the 107 lobe separation. I'd rather have around 230/236 @ .050 with as much lift as the pistons would allow. Always fun to hear a v8 fire.

I had this 327 in my 67 Chevy Impala SS that had this pronounced hissing sound coming from under the hood . It wasn't a vaccum leak , just the sound of the engine breathing , 202 powerpack heads . This thing would howl !

Haven’t played with the 186’s any but I have used the mutha thumpr flat tappet cam on a stock bottom end gen 1 350 with a set of cut 462 humps. Heads are 59 or 60cc and that combo ran great for what it was with a dual plane intake and a 600 edelbrock in a full size truck with a 5 speed and 3.42’s. Took the heads and cam from that engine and put on my 355 with flat tops, thin gaskets, a vic Jr and a 750 quick fuel. Hoping to make the first test hit soon to see how it likes the bump in compression

Hey Nyle I have a 327 sitting here I pulled from a 68 cameo rs with 22k original miles a few months ago. I’m debating build it or sell it and build a 400. Low 11 goals on a streetable car.

That cam needs 10.5-1 compression. I know it says 9.5-1 but they say that to sell to a broader market. Also 1.6 or even 1.7 rockers would help a lot provided the heads are ported.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to put together a few camel hump combos to test in the car. Should be fun to see how the respond to cams, port work and compression. This is my buddies engine. Im thinking I could through it in the my car to get a baseline for the camel humps.

302s and 327s are revee engines, but they need expensive parts to match the power and torque of 355s and 383s. It's hard to beat the bang for the buck of more cubs.@@nylegreen261

This cam will work perfect with 9.5 compression. The heads have a mild port and Polish 3 angle valve job. Matching springs for the cam. Performer r p m air gap gasket matched to the heads. Brawler seven fifty double pumper 1.5 comp cams roller rockers. Completely balanced rotating assembly. Double roller timing chain. This motor was built with all used parts I had laying around except carburetor. It's going in a twenty six hundred pound vega. With a power glide and a three thousand stall converter and three seventy three gear. I wanted a reliable pump gas motor which this is. And it will last until my 406 is done. That's when I plan on going fast.

Nice combination, would be a whole lot of fin in a light car with a 4sp behind it. I'm assuming the pistons are flat tops to the 9.5:1 ratio?

Any SBC with that cam always sounds good, what power you thinking your buddy will make? I just put together a 327, 30thou over, TRW flat tops with valve reliefs, Skip White NKB200 heads (68cc chamber with the PBM valves, 2.02 and 1.6), XE274 cam, RPM Air Gap and 750 Brawler carb, headers and full 3” custom stainless exhaust. Tuner guessing around 360hp at the engine
@aaronangelico6478

Well, a stock 327 out of a Corvette made three hundred sixty hp. So with a better cam better intake minor port and polish better carburetor headers. Balanced rotating assembly. Roller rockers electronic ignition I would think forty horsepower more would be acceptable

I have a1972 350. Casting # say’s California Camaro. It’s a two bolt main. I want to put it in my 72 c10 with a four speed. Honestly, how much horsepower would you be able to throw at it safely, with the two bolt mains?
@nylegreen261

Sounds like a fun project. I have run up to 400 horsepower and 6500 rpm's on a 350 2 bolt main block. I wouldn't be afraid to push it above this.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured somewhere around there. I don’t think I would need that muchHP. Maybe 325 to 350 hp.

Hi. It's detonation and/or cylinder pressure spikes (like a big 250+ nitrous hit activated at wrong rpm) that split main caps. I've built several endurance engines (oval track racing) using 2 bolt main. 7000rpm, 350 up to 500+ hp. Never a problem. Just use commen sense. Measure, clean, specs, proper fasteners and good tune. A bad tune or improper anything will destroy the best of parts. Hope this helps.
