Thier not to bad of a transmission. People just overheat them and never change the fluid. Then they have the “I know a guy who can do it cheaper” rebuild it. And losing reverse is usually user error not letting the transmission engage reverse before accelerating.

A lot of owners had to have rebuilds after about 200,000 km. I knew about this so made sure the fluid was changed every 30,000km and flushed every 60.000. Both station wagons loaded with tools of trade did 500,000km with no transmission problems whatsoever and engine oil change every 6000km.

So I put a new tranny and front end on it got it finished and my friend backed out of the deal. Kind of glad because my first boy bought it back and now has it.
