Wait till the Engine is cool. Lift the vacuum hose out of the way and reach behind and you will feel the wiring. Pull the plug. Use a 1 1/16 thin walled socket and a short extension. The sender will come out fairly easy. Make sure you replace the screen. I was able to do this easy without removing anything at all.

Just wanted to say thank you for youre video very informative and straight to the point people like you help the working class folks that can't afford a shop .keep up the good work there are so many people that rely on you in there time of need . Mine quit today at 3 am I had pulled over and removed the oil fill cap and verified oil being pumped up closed it up and drove to work and home before changing it took me about 25 30 minutes it is very difficult to get to but I did not unhook any lines just removed the plastic cover and used a small tbi unit hold down bolt off a 90s Chevy to get the screen out it was plugged solid .

Luckily I found your video. My Yukon had very low to zero oil pressure on the gauge but didn’t knock or tick throughout the rpm range. I pulled the sensor and filter popped in a new filter, buttoned everything back up, hit the switch.... 50 psi! THANK YOU!

Great video! I just did this on my 2007 GMC Sierra and it’s a lot better than pulling the intake. I also found out that using a wall anchor and screw for picture hanging is also a good way to pull the screen filter. Just put the anchor in the hole after removing the sending unit and finger tighten the screw and remove. It came out quite easy. Thanks!

Another great tip. Something I've noticed that really contributes to this, at least in my experience, going to long on the oil changes. have noticed this a lot when people run synthetic oil, they go way to long, the oil gets to thin and dirty and it plugs up those screens and the sensor. But something else I've noticed, on the engine with the active fuel management that have the oil consumption problems seem to be worse for this.

warriorpluto if you have good oil pressure, not using oil, no noise and do your oil changes when you should, I wouldn't worry to much. and something to keep in mind, warm your truck up for about 10 mins or so before draining the oil on an oil change it really helps cut down on sludge build up. have pulled engines apart with 300000kms on them and the lifter valley had over an inch of hard caked on sludge and it was do to many cold oil changes.

The Oil Pressure Low Message Is a GM defect on the oil pump pressure relieve valve plunger that gets stucked. They should make a RECALL of all vehicles that have this problem, It is very costly to replace the oil pump for something so small and simple. Envoys, Bravadas, Trailblazers and a lot of other vehicles. There should be a Class Action against GM for this. The problem is that when the valve is defective the computer incorrectly senses Low Pressure. That’s why when you step on the gas, the low pressure message disappears! In other words…is just a momentarily lie from the valve that makes the computer think that It has no oil and your car stalls trying to protect itself. This is how I solve it “momentarily” after I did all this… Changed the oil sensor. Flush the engine with Kerosene Replaced the engine pickup tube. Clean the throttle body (was dirty) After all that, I was about to give up and sell my Envoy, but I finally found a video where it was explaining the oil pressure relieve valve defect What I did, was to change my engine oil to 40W and use LUCAS oil treatment And Voila! The engine oil pressure went up and the low pressure message has disappeared. (up to now..knock on wood). I wish you all luck. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qqJrrJOHn3p4iWk

@@ThecardoctorTV I just had the sensor and screen replaced yesterday. Oil pressure is around 40 on the gauge when first started, drops to around 10 when warmed up and idling. Any ideas with this: 09 Z71 5.3 New oil pump and sending unit. 42-45 psi cold start on the gauge. Settles at 40-42 after a minute or 2. After 15-20 minutes oil pressure drops to around 20psi at idle Back up to 40-42 under acceleration. Is this normal on 2nd gen 5.3’s? Mechanic said it’s normal but my previous 00 5.3 and 02 4.8 held 40psi all the time Never dropped

Question... I got my transmission rebuilt.. Got it put back in and then I started my truck (2008 chevy Silverado) drove down road and there was no oil pressure at all. Replaces the screen and sensor.. Still nothing. Can the gauge be bad?

Crud. That’s with a manual pressure gauge on it? You could try a new oil pump and pickup o-ring and see how that’s works. Any engine noise?
