Thanks for the video. I've had a 71 for years and am finally finding the time and money to start working on it. An older fellow just up the street had a 68-72 with a 4 cyl that sat in his yard for years. I asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said he would keep me in mind if he decided to. His house was on the main road and when I passed by one day years later, it was gone.

Nice video. I have seen the 153 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine from a Nova. I helped my Dad when I was 13. put one in a 1953 Willys Jeep. You had to notch the oil pan and use a transmission adapter It was a great little engine. It got almost double the gas mileage of the flathead 4 cylinder Willys The Willys had 60HP and the Chevy had 90 HP. Plus after he blew up two flatheads he likes the fact that the Chevy 4 was reliable.

The X body is any Nova Ventura Apollo or Omega from 62-79. The 68-74 nova shared subframe with the 67-69 Camaro. Then the 75-79 shared with 70-81 Camaro as you said.

Hi. Regards from Chile. About the name "Nova, like dont go" was real in Argentina, in that country change the name from "Chevrolet Nova" to "Chevrolet Chevy" for 1968, from 1969 they build your own "Chevys" named "Serie 2" without some pretty gifts like vinil top, emblems of the fender in '70s Nova and another staff. From 1975 includes a turn signal light on the fender's corner, dash with round gauges like Pontiac or Acadian versions. Regards from Chile. We have Novas made in USA, in Canada, in Argentina and made in USA, but assembly in Chile, with windows made in local builds.

@@Shop209 the argentine was based on 1968 Nova from 69 to 72, after they do it more "younger" versions without vinil, adding live colors, like yellow, orange, purple, blue, black and white and new stripes, named like Chevrolet Chevy Serie 2, was best seller at Argentina. From 1973-1979, to Chile come only USA made Novas. For the other hand, in Brazil build your own version of many American cars what don't see in USA never ever. I own a 1972 Chevrolet Nova, 4 doors, from USA. Bought 12 years ago. I love my car, love 68-72 models and should learn about that and your videos help on it. lol. Regarding and thank for all!!

When I replied, "WTF does BMW have to do with a Nova SS 396?" His reply? "BMW invented the valve stem caps for the Nova SS." I AM NOT KIDDING! I asked if he was f'n high. Then proceeded to question why GM would outsource BMW for something as simple & basic as a valve stem cap? @Shop209
3 жыл бұрын
I removed bumper and filler, then cut out tail light panel and installed a 72 tail light panel. I had to cut and modify the rear crossmember also. You can put a 72 bumper on by just drilling holes in the crossmember to match the 72 bumper brackets. It will be close enough that you don’t need filler. The problem is that your plate mounts on the rear panel of a 73/74. It mounts to the bumper of the 72. So it might look a little weird. Thanks for watching.

Hello sir was wondering wat type of starter u recommend n how do i find out if my 74 nova is stagger or none ???

I use stock heavy duty starters. Most blocks are drilled for both patterns. Straight and staggered. Just look at the bolts holding your starter on. The straight are side by side.

How bout the vin deal..11427 vs 11327..SS/non-SS??..
@Shop209
3 жыл бұрын
11427 means it was a V8. 11327 means it was a 6 cyl. Sometimes the cowl tag will say 11427 and vin will say 11327. VIN always wins.

Have you ever put a camaro subframe under a Nova? I have a 74 Camaro subframe under my 69 Nova. Not finished yet. I have to redo the tranny tunnel to get my 700r4 to work. Any advice?

I haven’t. I guess if you get the front of it set up to Mount the core support and fenders the right height it’ll work really good. I have better design.

I have a Ventura core support and inner fenders. I guess when I start to put front fenders on I have to keep that in mind.

@@Shop209, They’re not much to look at, but they’re good cars, mine works really well at the drag strip with nothing more than caltracs and 90/10’s.

I think I heard this once before…. But I need your expertise. Is the rear differential slightly offset to one side from the factory? Didn’t ever notice this till now on my 70’….but it’s maybe an inch closer to the passenger side wheel lip compared to the driver side when measuring tire clearance
@Shop209
Жыл бұрын
Yes but it’s not on purpose from what I can find. It’s probably due to tolerance stacking from the panels overlaying each other during assembly.

Thanks buddy….I was a little concerned maybe the quarter patch panels were done sloppy. Is it usually or always offset towards the passenger side?
@Shop209

Usually but not always. Some cars are even. I’ve never seen one offset to drivers side but I’m sure it’s possible.

Yes. The 74 2 door seat will fit. The hatch back seat won’t.

My 1980's high school Spanish teacher told us the story about the Nova not selling south of the border. Later I learned it was all lies!

@@Shop209 what ones do you use, I just picked these up from harbor freight, and you need to slide this small backing block into the back side,,so I'm thinking how they are used under conditions were you can't get to the back, I was thinking, of using 3pul magnets,,to align the quarter,,,it's been a while,ya no...tks
