Another masterpiece from Chicago. The vocals, the trumpet, the horn section. Outstanding.

Rufus & Chaka Khan did the original of this in 1977 - A completely different jam and in a league as high as the sky....however this jam from Chicago is out of this world too. Love it!

the iconic sample of "Street Sounds swirling through my mind" went on to help launch an entire genre of dance music, House. Kenny Dope of Masters at Work probably had no idea what was to come.

I know there are people who like early Chicago and hate late Chicago, and others who feel exactly opposite. I like it all! There are other bands who had a different sound at different times in their careers: The Bee Gees, and The Doobie Brothers come to mind. I understand if people just prefer one style over another, but I've never understood how people can expect music artists to limit themselves and be constrained from exploring other genres. Who wants to do the same damn thing for 30 years? Most of us aren't doing the same job now that we did when we were 20. Let artists expand, explore and grow.

Agreed, I watched Peter after plus him being able to be with his daughters.(both beautiful), and him with Tim and Kenny on stage all so talented. Listen to Peter til he retired to Idaho a few years ago. Still sounding good.

This is okay but not the real blood and guts of their bluesy, jazzy rockin’, legendary soul of what this band was about and about as good as it gets, try reacting and you will love these following tunes, 25 or 6 to 4, Beginnings, Questions 67 and 68, I’m the Man, Make Me Smile, Colour My World!

You have got to do a reaction to Tower of Power. Absolutely sick horns with so much funk you won't believe it. As a drummer get hip to David Garibaldi with TOP. Try "What Is Hip" or "Down to the Nightclub (Bump City". You will thank me later.

Always liked this song. Loved it when Rufus and Chaka Khan did it as well. I don't like to call them a Disco band but I will admit that this was a pretty cool dance song! I see you want to get up and show us your Travolta moves. Go for it!! Also, the song was co-written by the group's drummer, Danny Sarephine.

The amazing thing is this song was a flop when it was released. Musical tastes changing right before the release. It was right at the end of disco and audiences were done with this kind of groove. I feel like Street Player is Chicago’s absolute best showcase of their musical talent. It’s by far my favorite Chicago tune. Amazing that it took a dance remix for people to come back and go “oh, Street Player? Yeah that shit is tight!” LOL

Please stop saying they had a disco period. Although an excellent song, Street Player is their only disco song. They also have one rap song, country song, a few brazilian influenced songs, psychedelic influences, classical based songs, jazz, big band, R&B and ballads. Maybe you are starting to realize they dipped their musical expression everywhere and made it their own. They have 37 albums, 22 of which are studio albums that are not live albums, compilation albums or Christmas albums, but their original music and 4 of those albums are double albums. So this one great disco song doesn't reflect them as a whole.

Ooh no. Haven't heard this song since I bought this album 40 or so years ago. They would, of course, go on to do syrupy, sappy, saccharin ballads and make lots of money. Let's just say that I'll probably listen to this again in another 40 years. R.I.P. Terry and forgive them.

I don't remember this song. It is a great moving song. I checked to see when this song came out and it was in 1979. The Bee Gees big disco hits were around 1977. In 1979 was the "Disco Sucks" movement.

Terry Kath rolled in his grave when this came out. This was the last Chicago album I would ever buy. For the full breadth of Chicago's musicianship and what they were truly capable of, listen to "Introduction". It's worth it for Danny Seraphine's drumming alone.
