Ingredients:
500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup gram flour (besan)
2 tablespoons rice flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon garlic powder or minced garlic
1 teaspoon ginger paste or minced ginger
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour, rice flour, cornstarch, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala, garlic powder, ginger paste, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add water to the dry ingredients to form a thick batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the chicken pieces well.
Add the chicken pieces to the batter and coat them evenly.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, one by one. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry the chicken pakoras until they are golden brown and crispy, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Once done, remove the chicken pakoras from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney. Enjoy your delicious chicken pakoras!
Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste preferences. You can also add chopped cilantro or curry leaves to the batter for added flavor.
