Fred Astaire was still alive when break dancing became so popular. A lot of people saw it in a negative way. When Fred was interviewed about it he surprised everyone when he said he thought it was a fantastic form of dance and if he was younger he would give it a try. He encouraged the dancers to go for it! Needless to say that was all the dancers needed to hear and the rest was history!
