Why the company didn't post a video just like this on their website is beyond me. This was exactly what I needed to view to know I was doing it correctly. Well done!!!!

Great video! I did the same process on my Ooler. After some Reddit research, here's some more information I found: - On Amazon, there is similar cleaner called "Impresa Cleaner for Chili Sleep". It's cheaper and ships faster. I haven't used it yet. - If you are missing the drain tool, there is a 3D printable file. I searched for "ooler drain key 3d print" - For extreme draining, one can use an air compressor (the big plug-in tank-style used for construction). I basically would depress the hose end valves and shoot air into the lines (mattress pad, hose, unit). I was able to remove even more water that way.

The instructions that came with my unit never mentioned draining the pad as well. Only the control unit. But, oh well, I can do that next time. Also, the instructions say to let it run on HIGH for one hour, not 6 to 8. I will leave mine circulating longer than an hour. The only other observation is that while cleaning, it is important to leave the reservoir cap OFF, I assume to let the air bubbles out, but when refilling the container after the water with cleansing solution is out, one obviously puts the cap back on. I assume this is because most of the cleaner will be out. They did not suggest draining the pad again to get all the cleaner out...I think they could be a little more detailed in their instructions, but then, when have you ever read instructions that were well written, clear, and complete?

Thank you very much for the in-depth comment. You’re right on all those fronts. The instructions in general for this unit are pretty weak. To thoroughly clean the entire unit I think both the condenser tubing and pad should all be drained and then rinsed refilled. This makes most sense if there’s water throughout the entire system. I think you’ll get the best outcome if that’s done. We like our chili pad. For our cabin house we bought the Ooler which we like as well.Thanks again take care joe

Thank you so much! Ive had mine for 3 years and never thought to clean it. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a strange smell while I was sleeping-it smelled like mildew. Needless to say the gunk that came out of my machine was bad. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Thank you for your comment. It might not be a bad idea to clean it again in the near future just to kind of stay on top of it. Yes moldy stuff does accumulate in there and I can really smell bad. Take care joe

Since theyre system cleaner is crazy expensive for just 1 pack which cleans once a month, Did you just use half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide premix solution with the distilled to fill up and clean?, cause folks on reddit are also a bit confused, appreciated and apparently there's also been folks at support saying hydrogen peroxide corrodes the system 🤔
@JosephHunstad
Жыл бұрын
@@qnge6tyioo209 I don’t believe that hydrogen peroxide could corrode that system at all. And I don’t think it’s required to be incredibly specific I think hydrogen peroxide works great and I would just rinse it out at least once maybe twice and then all of that is gone. Thanks - Joe

@@JosephHunstad so 3% hydrogen peroxide that you get over the counter, 1/2 cup of it with the distilled water is good enough then? Cause folks was wondering as said appreciated your support, also this guy did a full maintenance video for the dock pro btw , m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/yIiL1K19rqOih20

Cleaned mine using your method, except for the part where you drained the mattress itself. Which tool did you use for that part? I still have that tool to drain the cube part.

I used the same tool to drain the pad as to drain the tubing. It’s that plastic part that comes with it. That’s small and has two protrusions. Thanks, Joe.

Great Video Dr Joe. Do you think it would be a good idea to place a cookie sheet with a lip edge under the Chilipad unit to catch any drips or spills that may occur during the process?

How do you reset if it doesn't turn on
@JosephHunstad

OK, you ask very interesting question. I have not had that problem, but I believe the best thing to do is to unplug it. Wait a five minutes plug it back in and then try to restart it from the box not the remote. I think this will probably work. Let me know. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
