The chime credit builder card isn’t like a secured credit card. You move money to the secured card. You use the card for purchases. Chime deducts your purchase from the money you put into the credit builder. But, the money isn’t actually removed until the bill is due. It’s held. With a prepaid card, you prepay 250. You use the card. Then have to pay the credit card company what you spent to get back to 250. With this you don’t pay back. Essentially it’s a debit card that reports to the credit bureau.

Forgive me but I don’t really understand. Could you please do a breakdown 🥲 with numbers ? For example : if my credit limit (on an issued credit card, not a chime credit card) is $500 & i spend $20, I’d owe $20 at the end of the month. Can you break it down like that? With numbers? If I load $100 on my CHIME credit card and spend $20 within the month, what ‘balance’ is being paid off? 3:55 what exactly are they paying back? If I spend $20 (over the month, out of my $100 that I loaded on the card at the beginning of the month) wouldn’t I just end up with $80? Since $100 - $20 = $80 ??? Would I have to pay back $20 to chime ? I don’t get ittttt

But lets say i go to a dealership and try and get a car thinking ill get a decent deal/monthly payment because of my credit score. Cant they see my history or even how and when i built my credit and therefor end up throwing me an underwhelming deal than expected based solely off of my over all credit history? All you gotta do is have your employer switch for 2 pay checks then you are good and switch it back… it’s not rocket science

I worked with my payroll and set up a “recurring” direct deposit, but actually worked with them to revert back to normal after the first one. Then I can just move money from the normal bank I deposit to into my chime

Extra can actually learn a lot from Chime. Not only do you build your credit with no fees, Chime also reports to all THREE credit bureaus while Extra only reports to Equifax and Experian. You gotta be a fool to go with Extra.

So If I don’t mix out my limit I should be fine? Also if I pay my subscription on time with builder I would be fine

What happens if and when I don’t need to use this card anymore? Does that show as a closed account and negatively affect my credit?

So I’m a little confused if I put $200 on the credit builder card and used almost all that amount do I need to pay $120 cause my statement said I owe $120 but I didn’t use the full $200 ? Or should I just put $200 outta each check into the credit builder card and have that card pay for my subscriptions and keep the money in the account ?

You don’t owe anything it’s literally like a debit card but I’m a secured credit way. If I put $1000 in the credit builder account I can easily take it back out and put it on my regular checking s

If you put $200 in your credit builder account each week for example, and you only use $30 of that $200, you can transfer the $170 back into your spending account
