Your right but when glow plug is running it's not ideal but it uses 2A DC at 12v. Like 25W at worst. And if the transformer recifier is 50% efficient then it will be 50W draw constantly. Doubt any fires at this power but I agree with you.

I've got the same unit and originally had it outside until I bought an extra length of exhaust pipe, then I moved it inside with the exhaust out of a window, the efficiency was so much better when you are not trying to warm up - degree temperatures. Some points to pay attention: exhaust pipe straight down to prevent consensed water and residues clogging the burner, change the fuel hose to a proper one, insulate the exhaust pipe cause it is placed next to the fuel line at the bottom of the heater....as well apply some rubber foam to the fuel pump which decreases the noise significantly. So this bone cheap appliance is an incredibly good solution to warm my shed

Nice but my only issue with your setup is the exhaust should run down hill to allow the condensation to run out.
@GeeBeeMike

Actually, mine has been running for over a month now on and off with the exhaust orientated vertically up the chimney and there is zero condensation in the exhaust. I suspect this is because the unit is being run indoors. With the exhaust outside in a colder environment then I expect condensation in the pipe would eventually become a problem.

So, I have the exact same heater. I run it in-front of the fireplace in the living room and vent the exhaust straight up the chimney. Zero fumes in the house. It will take our sizeable living room from 14°C to 24°C in about 35 mins and then the heat starts to find its way out the doors and into the rest of the house. To do that it has to be run on 5.4Hz. Mine is powered from mains using a 30amp transformer bought from Amazon and I’ve run a watt meter in-line between the power supply and the heater. I can state it will draw as much as 9amps on start up and again on shut down for a period of about a minute as it lights the glow plug to both fire and then purge the combustion chamber through both those phases of operation. During run it draws anywhere from 0.75amp and 2-3amps depending on motor speed. Really pleased with it. Sourced a supply of red diesel for it today. One of the best things we’ve ever bought.

This is what I plan on doing with the one I've just ordered so I'm glad to hear someone else has done a similar thing. Our house only has a gas fire in the front room so I'm planning on putting a diesel heater in the fireplace of the master bedroom and then route the exhaust up the chimney. It should hopefully take the chill off the upstairs during the winter months.

Put the unit inside and pipe the exhaust throuh a radiator with a 12V radiato fan end THEN out of the building. Why are you heating outside air? Run another duct from the air intake to the inside of the house - that way you are adding heat to the inside air just as does a 'normal' house furnace. You will then get much higher temperatures than heating cold outside air. Remember that the diesel heater has a finite temperature differential capability which means that if the outside air drops 5 degrees so will the air coming from the heater.
@toxichazard5015

That would cause negative pressure in the house, meaning the house will be acting as a vacuum, and sucking cold air from the outside in. Having neutral pressure, as in this setup is much more efficient.

you should have a battery, as if there is a power cut the unit will self destruct due to the heat. You can put the battery across the output of the power supply. You can buy different units too ,that have ,wire harnesses that can extend ,easier than directing your current unit ... Invest in a leisure battery too with high amp output like 120 Amps capacity .... Invest in a solar charger and adequate solar panel ,say 200 w or two 100 w panels... mount them on garage if need be .... Oh and finally ... exhaust ...extention on it is all good ...but always have it pointing downwards unless you are skilled at cleaning amd maintaining heater ,more than needed ... But I see why you opt for this ,as prices rise !! Scandalous!!

I think these are over rated for anything but their intended use, and that’s to defrost cars, vans, and keep lorry cabs warm in Arctic conditions, hence been called night heaters. Yes you can use them to heat campers, motors homes, but that’s the limit. If I don’t have my heating on for 24 hrs in my house it’s 15-16 degrees, but having the heating on 24/7 with the hive set at minimum 18 degrees it’s costing me around 40p an hr you’ll find that heater is costing more than 40p an hr to run flat out with today’s diesel prices, if you get kerosene for 85p a litre then that CDH will cost you 36p an hr to run flat out. Noway can this heater take the chill out of any house unless it’s a doll house, the maths don’t add up 5kw heater they are rated for but they are not 100% efficient. I bought one of these to heat up my garage (uk) and it’s only 9x20ft concrete and it’s getting to maybe 12 deg after hrs on end zero ambient temperatures, this was also with the exhaust inside I did this to test it and it’s a 5kw maxpeedings all in one. The price of these are going through the roof based on tube vids, who are also jumping on the band wagon for clicks, just look at the views this guys vids have and then look on the heater clicks. I bought one based on these tube vids and tbh it’s cheaper and more effective for me to use two electric heaters, and a dam site more quieter. They must make a good 80 plus DB and it’s annoying as hell in my shop just hearing this thing. If you have no other means of heating then these can work to heat a small room, small been key. If you have central heating then don’t listen to these tubers and turn your heating on it’s far far cheaper. Cost to run these heaters flat out because it will always be on flat out mine used 1 litre of fuel in 2.5 hrs 1 litre of pump diesel cost £1.85 that’s 74p an hr 1 litre of red cost around £1.35 if you can find it local 1 litre of kerosene .85p if you can buy 500 litres that’s 34p an hr a little cheaper than running your entire house on central heating and this will heat your bog, maybe a bedroom. So let’s just say you can run on cheaper kerosene, the heaters are now £200 give or take mine cost £250, then a transformer cost £50 because everybody’s buying cheaper ones, then any cabling you’ll need so it’s £300 minimum for me it’s not saving me any money because I can’t get cheaper fuel and I’m only needing to heat my garage for 2-3 months of the year.

In many ways you are correct. Running these at full chat does consume the fuel and gets expensive, but it’s bloody good at bringing the living room up to temperature quickly and then throttling it right down until it’s on tick over or just above and it then retains a nice warm background heat in the room for as long as you need. In one month of general usage, the unit has consumed 30 litres of red diesel in my case using as we have. By comparison, had I been running the gas central heating for our 5 bed house, or just been using the 7Kw gas fire in the living room, the cost would have been considerably higher than the 30 litre of diesel this heater has smoked over the same period. I think you just have to be realistic with your expectations of what a parking heater can achieve and use it accordingly. I still think it was an excellent purchase. Paid £105 for our 8Kw unit and it’s been faultless so far. I never bought it with the expectation to heat the whole house, just one room, or if i orientate it to blast directly up the stairs, it does get the landing area and a couple of bedrooms nice and toasty within about an hour.

Yes you can, just change the control panel from °C to Hz. 1.4hz is lowest speed, 5.4Hz is max speed for this particular unit. I find it runs better and is easier to control having it set to Hz. Also has a direct effect on the fuel is drinks. 1.4 practically nothing. 5.4 it starts to get a bit thirsty but the space becomes way too hot leaving on 5.4 for any period. Once the room is up to about 23°C then I throttle it back to about 1.6Hz and it keeps the heat in the room stable.

Had voltage issues with my diesel heater I put in the van too. No chance of running off leisure batteries running off just solar, so it's connected to our starter battery and in 18 days we've only had one flat start to the day 🤣🤣

I read a blog about a gal who has a similar setup and she starts the van engine for startup and shutdown, because of the 9 amp current draw of the glowplug.

The irony that someone with a HUGE hot tub has concerns about their energy usage!

That’s why it’s turned off and for my next trick to warm the hot water up in the tub from the heater 👍

@@ourtimevanlife9667 this is a nice idea I have been toying with. My heater arrives next week . Heat exchange from exhaust makes most sense to me as if you use the hot air it'll reduce the heating effect . The exhaust is going to waste so harnessing that seems best

The controller doesn't work like a thermostat

Depends what mode it's in there's Hz setting when it'll run at a fixed output constantly or a temperature setting when it uses the thermocouple in the controller to ramp the heater down to minimum when set temperature is met.. it doesn't completely shut down but minimises fuel consumption and fan speed
