Artist Statement:
“Chips” is a short series of brief videos comedically expressing how the decisions made between characters Dave (the player) and Conrad (the friend) can cause important changes in the relationship even in casual settings. Through the visualization of a casual hang out at Conrad’s house, readers question their own decisions based on their own desires and the comedic outcomes to navigate what the best way is to satisfy the playable character Dave (themselves) as well as the friend Conrad (those they care about). We aim to leave readers questioning what they care about most and question “what would I do in this situation?” meanwhile each decision they make may be executed differently than they may expect. Inspired by the Henry Stickmin games and Markipliers “In Space” and “Heist With” series, the clicking through story in video elements create a sense of emersion that the character you play has a purpose and goal you wish to get them to. Each video ends with a split decision linking to unlisted videos that cannot be accessed without a direct link, so readers start at the beginning and explore options and find different endings. We also include a video at the end of each ending to link back to the start if the player desires to search different paths and endings. Using KZitem as a platform for casual content, young adults and casual skimmers of the internet can find an alternative form of choice in videos leading them down a rabbit hole of curiosity.

-Rylan Eisenhauer engages himself in video games and video production narrative as his preferred choice of storytelling. Growing up, television works from cartoons, movies, skits, and video games immersed him in foreign worlds and different perspectives. Rylan’s discovery of KZitem was his awakening of passion in seeing how everyday people could make a name for themselves by becoming a “character” to show the world and tell their stories. With inspirations such as “Markiplier,” “Jacksepticeye,” and “TheGamingLemon,” Rylan embarked on his own journey, establishing his KZitem channel, “Bunkatron,” in 2016. Since then, he has explored various forms of content creation, from live streaming to creating compilation funny moments videos. Rylan’s commitment to storytelling through gaming and virtual experience drives his ongoing pursuit of engaging and entertaining content for his audience.
-Luke Higgins has always loved art and has always had a passion for making art, especially music. He grew up listening to a lot of music that his dad would play during car rides and a lot of his dad’s music taste has rubbed off on him. After graduating high school, Luke knew he wanted to go to college, but WSU Vancouver doesn’t have any music programs. However, the digital technology culture program seemed to line up with his interests. Since he’s started, his skills with videography, video editing, and audio editing have grown a lot and one day he hopes that his audio editing skills could help him record, produce, and mix his own music. Music and audio is Luke’s main passion, but he also enjoys and wants to expand his skills set with videography and video editing.
-Luca Wagner is an ambitious aspiring filmmaker heavily inspired by pre-2000s cinema. His main passion lies in the writing and directing side of cinematic production. Having written and worked with stop-motion, live-action, and non-cinematic mediums like illustrated children's books and video games, Wagner has experience crafting stories for a wide-range of audiences. Besides narrative writing, he enjoys writing music and playing guitar in his off time…
