Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Alcatrazz.
Graham Bonnet's "pet project" Alcatrazz has employed some ferocious talent over the years and this lesson takes a look at their classic output when a young Yngwie Malmsteen followed by a young Steve Vai took the six-string helm and crafted some great music while working with this commonly-overlooked band in the 1980s.
The songs featured in this lesson include various cuts from both No Parole From Rock And Roll (with Yngwie) and Disturbing The Peace (with Steve Vai), and includes fan favorites such as 'General Hospital,' 'Painted Lover,' 'Mercy,' and 'Jet To Jet,' not to mention deeper cuts such as 'Bigfoot,' 'Sons And Lovers,' and much more!
There's something interesting to discover by going back and noticing the music and ideas floating around these two legendary guitarists and their work with this group. From Yngwie's early neo-classical metal fury to Vai's endlessly impressive shred-guitar heroics - there's plenty to sink your teeth into and gain from visiting (or revisiting) this phenomenal, yet obscure band from yesteryear.
