Chrissie sure knows her stuff as an analyst and she is so gracious to Sue concerning her own game in the past!! I mean Chrissie doesn't have to compliment anyone being the legend that she is but she does!! Brava!

Loved this interview/discussion. Sue Barker has such a great personality and, yes, she DID have the biggest forehand in the early 70's.

Sue had a huge forehand. Her backhand was a slice and was dependable but she couldn’t hit an offensive shot with it. She really put everything into her forehand. Her inside out forehand was the killer shot.

These two r so classy. Chrissie, I loved talking about Sues Forhand which was amazing in the 70's with that wooden racquet. And of course, the Evert devestating 2 handed backhand which is the reason they use 2 hands. That's Everts influence.

My mom loved Chris Evert and the only time she watched sports was ice skating and Chris. Maybe she liked the grace of movement, but it never occurred to me to ask her.

What a delight to see this exchange between two such elegant and knowledgeable ladies. I was just starting to follow tennis when Sue Barker was winding down her career and would see her name in various stories and scores of matches, but I'd never really scene her or even knew what kind of game she had.

I love them reminiscing here, and Chris is absolutely right, this was Sue Barker's one and only chance to take Wimbledon in 77. If she had been up against Virginia, she probably would have beaten her. Having said that, 77 also should have been Chrissie's easiest Wimbledon win ever
@nassauguy48

Sue had a roughly even record against Virginia while she was only 1-22 against Chris. Oddly enough, however, Betty Stove had her number, as she had more wins against Sue than losses. Yet, Betty had beaten Virginia only once or twice in her career. I am not sure as to whether Sue would have beaten Virginia. The latter was 32 years old, had never won Wimbledon before, and knew that her time was nigh. The crowd would probably have been behind Virginia. And anyone who beats Chris Evert in the semifinals has to be the favorite to win.

actually barker only beat evert once and that was in 1979 indoors around the time when evert was pre-occupied with her upcoming marriage to john lloyd.. the next tournament right afterwards would be the tournament where evert lost to austin for the first time, so evert was not "there" physically or mentally during this loss to barker or the loss austin in this couple of weeks time period.. i believe the head to head of evert with barker is 23 to 1 and rarely did sue even take sets of evert (besides the loss, just 3 sets altogether).. interesting though in that barker gave austin fits, including defeating austin in 1981 indoors in england shortly after austin had won the u..s open..

actually i do bring up the head to head with martina WHEN it's a martina vs chris video.. sorry if the truth and facts are the way they are.. as if, it was the other way around with goolagong leading the head to head you wouldn't be posting that? yes, the austin vs evert head to head is 9-8 in austin's favor..over a span of only from 1977 to 1982.. hardly a record that anyone can really make a case for... the case can be made however, that 5 of those wins of austin did occur within only a few months.. a case can be made that while evert's wins over austin included one when she was only 14 and a few when she was only 15, the same case can be said that the last time they played each other evert did win 6-0 6-0... was austin at her best then? no, but she did and was able to beat a formidable jaeger in the previous round... the biggest case is 18 grand slams singles titles (3 more would have been the case if she had played the 3 french opens instead of wtt) versus 2 of austin' and goolagong's 7 singles slams.. those are the facts, for whatever reason... sorry if the facts don't work into your favorite players favor... and while you want to say it's not evonne's fault she had kids well it's also not evert's fault either just like in the case with austin as well!.. p.s. evert IS my favorite player but i do like goolagong and austin too.. just as you have YOUR favorites..

@@martinpascoe5904 get some help. Yes Evonne was an artist on the court and Evertvwas by far the superior player if dedication and determination are talents . No one is shitting on any one except you are to others commenting here . Nobody likes your comments so stay off if the only thing you can say is out of line . Everyone would be happier if you refrained from trolling others commenting . They are not saying anything they is negative - only you are .

There's no doubt Evert has had some work done on her face and neck, but hell, when the results look this GOOD, why not? Even Tracy Austin (who's 8 yrs younger) and no doubt has gone under the knife herself, looks like an old hag compared to Evert. Chrissie sure knows how to find the best plastic surgeons like she knows how to hit those passing shots !
