In a previous interview Emery asked Hillman how Gram Parsons was doing to which he replied still dead Ralph.

The interview portion on this clip is good. Hillman is very gracious and does a great little Byrds>Burritos history. Thanks for posting.

Chris Hillman is a real gentleman. See the Gary Usher Byrds specials for more about the 1968 Nashville controversy.

To Michael, below, no, Chris is not at all egotistical. Ralph asked him a lot of questions about his history, and he answered them, not taking much credit for anything as he easily could have. They sound great in this one song, wish there was more. And how funny, "a new guy you might like named Dwight Yoakam...."

Not sure if Chris ever confronted Emery about his hatred for the Byrds in 1968 where he derided them for being hippies. I read that Emery conveniently "forgot" about it...

On Sweetheart, on the song "He's A Drugstore Truck Driving Man" McGuinn dedicates the song to Emery by speaking the words, "This one is going out to you, Ralph." That was a shot at Ralph, I think.

@@uhlijohn McGuinn and Gram wrote the song in a hotel in London. I'm sure they felt very hurt by Emery's attitude. He refused to play the song they brought and asked Gram about his draft status.

Thanks for uploading this. Good as it is, there was an earlier episode of Nashville Now where Chris, Herb and band were the featured (and only) guest, and they were especially tight that night--a little less laid back, with a greater sense of urgency and intensity. The band was better too. I recorded that show, and practically (not literally) wore the tape out watching it. I could kick myself out for not keeping it. If I had it I'd transfer it and upload it. Any chance you could find the show?

Chris Hillman is still his egotistical self. Who am I to say. Very gifted and totally enjoyed his music throughout the years.

Anybody in the biz HAS to have a healthy ego. He's a classy survivor, that played sideman and the #2 guy for far too long. Glad he's reaping all the accolades that are coming his way. Ralph Emery... now there was an egotistical jerk. Great voice for radio. No brains or class.

Well, it may be an "ugly" looking guitar, but the guitar itself puts out a phenomenal sound. And the house band guitarist playing it is superb!
