Allot of these comedians have lost their edge unfortunately, didn't find his latest movie that funny which was really sad for me. Political correctness has really destroyed comedy and in afraid effected even the legendary Chris Morris. its hard to point out irony and hypocracy and not get labeled nazi, misogynist, bigot etc.
@neilsun2521

@@enriquepelenato4956 Absolutely. You couldn't even get a comedy commissioned nowadays with early Chris Morris type subject matter because the modern day left would have it cancelled before it began. The mainstream media is now entirely far left; but it could still be done via online alternative media possibly.

The word 'genius' is a term that is easily thrown around in the modern age. But Christopher Morris is just that... Intelligence on a whole new level. I emplore anybody with an open mind to dark humour, to watch both 'Brasseye' & 'Jam'. They will literally change your view on how comedy can be created & percieved. The god of satirical comedy without a shadow of a doubt.
@deeyem1991
9 жыл бұрын
You should perhaps give Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle a go. Chris Morris was slightly involved in it, but, in my opinion, is neither as funny or as clever as Stewart Lee. All things considered though, Chris Morris has been doing this a long time.
@tnucateM
9 жыл бұрын
deeyem1991 Admirers of Stewart Lee though, require a degree of snobbery. I realise his character is a joke and even Stewart Lee the person separates himself from the character, but the fanbase often relate to the left wing liberal snobbery almost more than is intended from Lee, despising anyone that doesn't share their own view of high brow culture. Chris Morris is more out and out funny i feel. the reaction chris morris gets from his audience is purely comedic, whereas Lee's is comedic mixed with approval/elitism(obviously depending on the fan in question). Lee's comedy is a little bit hit and miss when it comes to out and out funny. Where he doesn't hit with a joke, he sort of has that reliant haughtiness of the audience to fall back on, meaning not every joke is absolutely funny, but the ones that aren't so much are sort of cleverly wrapped in condescension, getting a positive reaction out of the audience regardless. Don't get me wrong i love Stewart Lee and am a considerable lefty liberal on most issues, but when it gets to the level of idolatry that some fans give him, particularly when described as superior to Chris Morris, the above is the only explanation i can come up with. obviously just my opinion so if you feel i've treated Lee fans unfairly you are quite welcome to disagree
@AdamTerror
9 жыл бұрын
tnucateM i think it would be fair to assume that alot of the people who like lee also like morris and vice versa and i appreciate your point about lees' comedy being mixed with elitism, but i think the general self awareness of a lot of the audiences of both comedians allow them to separate reality and fiction and are aware that lees' persona is presumably fictitious even if the bent tends to be a generally liberal perspective, i definitely think that the favoritism arrives from the sort of social pariah character that Lee presents twinned with the fact it's easier to like someone who is more in the public eye and Stewart Lee has definitely been on tv abit more than Chris Morris.
@tnucateM
9 жыл бұрын
AdamTerror i'm sure the audience are aware of stewart lee's stage persona being a character but they still idolise him subconciously then. I mean look at the btl guardian comments after every stewart lee article, its filled with elitist idiots going 'you see the reference he made there to that story last week about that politican, to not enjoy this you'd have to be a fucking idiot who isn't cultured enough to understand the references' etc etc. And i think the social pariah character he depicts as being jealous and bitter towards the well known comedians is ruined, he's admitted himself, by the fact that he's pretty famous now. It's quite funny actually, his persona started off as an unknown being angry at other comedians being on tele and now that he's on tele he's had to begrudgingly change tack
