I think Neil might have been a little winded, but ultimately didn't want to get into the scrum that ensued. And can you blame him? He was on the ice and people were coming over for revenge. This was probably the best hit I have ever seen! And I agree that Neil stayed down when he saw Chara coming. He probably was a bit hurt and didn't feel like fighting, but Neil has kicked Chara's ass before. Just starts talking about how "Boychuck is the first to get up," like Neil is more hurt after the hit.

As a Boston fan I must admit that this was indeed a GREAT hit on Boychuck, however what bothers me is the fact that he fully knew that he gave him a concussion(it was pretty ovious) and still showed his arragance by showing off to the crowd after his fight with Chara. I MEAN COME ON! He probably just finished Boychuck for at least the rest of the season, and here he is celebrating it! Absolutly gutless. I can't wait till tuesday...

@TpCObjectivist Another ironic screen name. Objectivist. Chris Neil didn't win this fight, which isn't really surprising because he wasn't trying to win it. He got in tight on Chara, and held on for his life. He knew if he started openly trading with Chara, he'd get KO'd. His only goal here was to not get obliterated. Mission accomplished. But that doesn't mean he won the fight.

@CelticMike2011

@thr3es Actually Chara didn't connect with any of his punches - neither did Neil, so we're left with who was left standing. Oddly enough the last time they fought in 2010 was a virtual repeat of last night's tilt - maybe Chara should just leave Neil well enough alone next time :)

ppl saying he faked an injury r jokes! listen to what the announcer says about them colliding @ a high rate of speed (neilers fresh off the bench!) its like hitting a brick wall, they ended up dropping the mitts a few mins later where after the fight neil took chara down and had an opportunity to crack his skull open! also they fought not too long ago where that fight chara again got taken down and neil coulda smashed him face through the boards but didnt bcuz hes a clean playing tough guy!
@CelticMike2011
12 жыл бұрын
@SullyroxRoflmao Actually if you've ever had the wind knocked out of you Neil's reaction is very typical - you don't feel pain per se, and for the first second or two you don't even realize anything's wrong, until you try to draw in a breath and nothing happens. Hence Neil goes to get up and falls back down. Neil has fought the toughest guys in the league multiple times (and won his fair share), the guy has no need (let alone desire) to fake an injury to avoid a fight.

@kaleobeachboy Also, Vancouver plays in a division where they beat up on 4 garbage teams for 24 games each year. Meanwhile, Detroit has to deal with St. Louis, Chicago, and Nashville 6 times each. So you've basically got 18 more cupcake games than Detroit, yet they're still only 2 points behind you. My point is they're a significantly better team. And to get back to the Finals, you'll likely need to beat 2 of those 4 teams in Detroit's division. I don't like your chances. =)

@kaleobeachboy Am I really getting hockey analysis from a guy whose screenname is "kaleobeachboy"? Glad to know you've already got the entire playoff picture figured out. Anyone who knows anything about the NHL knows it's all about which teams start turning it on right about now. Nothing is guaranteed, top seeds lose in the first round all the time in the NHL. I love how Vancouver loses in the Stanley Cup Finals, and yet the arrogance is in full effect even though you've won nothing.

@Auslyer well he clearly didnt win but after the fight he was rising hands like a winner or something. not even did he land single punch but he didnt even THROW a punch, if you cant even THROW 1punch in fight you have to be a looser! he just hugged Chara! @pandacrunch Boston (the team or the fans) didn't care who won the game on January 7th. The scoreboard was completely irrelevant. We just wanted to give all the gutless punks on your team the beatings they so desperately needed. Hansen, Lapierre, Burrows all should have been challenged multiple times... and only Lapierre manned up. Why they were even given the choice to decline is beyond me. McQuaid and Ference both should have ragdolled Hansen anyway for his cheapshots in game 7.
