I also think that Lexie brings that hype man factor. She is always out there passionately cheering on everyone. I think the whole team benefits from it. But CC definitely needs someone to cheer on her successes and pull her out of her self-criticizing-analyze-every-mistake spiral like Martin used to. Boston has definitely been stepping up to cheer on her successes especially in the press. Lexie's passion def pumps CC up on the court.

Unless you're counting Sides' time as a JV high school coach (this is the only other time she was a head coach), this is Sides' second year as head coach of the Fever. Sure, Sides can grow and so can any other coach out there. The ability to grow should be expected with ANY coach, it's not a unique ability. I disagree with the notion that no coach is prepared for a player like Clark. I've listened to interviews with coaches who say that would've loved to coach CC, including Jim Boeheim and Coach K. I'm sure Becky Hammon has a pretty good understanding of CC as well. You think coaches like that would be unprepared for CC? Sure it's not fair to compare Sides to legendary coaches like that (and Boeheim and Coach K are retired), but the point is that CC is not some unknown player (like she was when she showed up at Iowa - Lisa Bluder never had a player like CC before). Any coach that you would hire would know who CC is and have a plan about how to get the most out of CC (and Boston, Mitchell, etc). If you look at an area Sides has really struggled at, it's things like coming up with a play after calling a timeout. Often times it completely falls apart and they can't execute it at all. The execution in the half court offense has not been good. The execution has improved since the season started, but when the season started it was so awful that it was really difficult to watch -- it could only get better, and it has. Sides doesn't utilize her timeouts well to try and slow down the opponents momentum. She doesn't know when to challenge plays. She doesn't stick up for a her players. She's really awful with what she says about players to the media. She's shown a lot of favoritism towards Wallace and Wheeler. Fans have been pleading for Sides to play Hull more for weeks now. Grace Berger is a much better player than Erica Wheeler. Berger has had no chance to sharpen her skills with game action. She only plays in blowouts (when the Fever are losing big, or up big -- either way, not a great, competitive situation). Do you think Berger is getting better or worse this season under Sides? Wheeler is likely not going to be back next year. She's in the last year of her contract and they aren't going to re-up her $200K+ contract to sit on the bench. Who will be the backup point guard next year? You're far better off giving Berger Wheeler's minutes and seeing what Berger has. It'll be better from a future planning standpoint to figure out what you have in Berger going forward. Honestly, what has Sides done well? What has she excelled at, in your opinion? I don't like calling for a coach to be fired. The NBA is a joke with the coaching carousel that goes on there, but it seems clear to me that you could certainly find a coach who could do better than Sides. The Fever head coaching job would be a desirable position for many coaches given their talent and the fame that would come from coaching this team. There's a real risk that Sides is not good at developing talent. Do you want to waste meaningful years of players' careers while Sides "figures it out"?

Still need Kelsey to attack the basket when her number is called but she did have clutch 3 at the end. Katie Lue is a cutie, and her being your WORST player on the floor is good. She is smart, an okay defender in the paint and outside can create space and hits occasional 3s. Boston has been the best player all year. Smith is finding her groove and being more of a PF, getting easy shots at the rim rather than a 3-point shooter, which she can be.

This team still doesn’t play tremendously start ball, and defensively is as bad as it gets with help defense. They literally watch people go to the rim for layups and watch. Then they are down 11 in the 4th and our score the Liberty by 16 in the final 8 mins and look like a different team. It was very impressive. This team is just so darn streaky. It’s either really good or gets really bad. Clark still needs to shoot more. Today she finally shot more. But many of them were forced cause they still don’t run actions for her. Don't know much about wnba. Can wheeler be traded for a faster paced guard?

"Play defense and run". When Caitlin is on the floor they have no choice but to run. As for defense, The Fever has gone from high school level defense to energetic WNBA attacking defense; that is a coaching plus for Sides.

To be fair wheeler and clark together have worked but that is marchup dependent. End of mystics and dream games shows this.

Even as a UConn fan I admired the Hull Twins at Stanford not only for Theo talent but for their team play & that’s what Lexi can do for the fever With CC. & don’t forget Katie Lou The more they play together the better they become.

Great point. Wallace had a negative impact on the Fever. Lou isn’t the answer either. Unfortunately. Lexie Hull, on the other hand, looked great. Wheeler is simply terrible.

thing about wallace is she is only in yr 3 as she started late... but this yr she is way off her career numbers.. by a lot... 26% at 3 as compared to 38 and 42.. so if she just gets to her median it would make a significant difference

I think AB/Dantas/Wheeler/Berger/CC is viable since the starters need the rest

Wallace is a good player as long as she is either a bench player or in a different style of play. You dont adjust your team style for wallace

i hope you see this comment because I was not very happy with the way they played, though more than happy with the result. here are the details: 1. sides had a few attempts at killing this game. why was clark benched when they had a lead going? when she came back the momentum was already off. but, she wasn't too long off the court, at least that. 2. tonight they lost 4 attacks for clock violation. add to that three or four last second missed attempts, and clearly, NY defence was good but fever offense was not working too well. 3. rotation on defence was horrible. this game level may not be enough for post olympics second half of season.

Wheeler and Wallace just don't fit into Clark's playstyle. Against the Mercury, Wallace actually had a great backdoor cut FINALLY, and of course Clark found her for an easy lay up. But they just don't do that enough. W & W do fine on the court on their own, just not when Clark is also on the court.
