@Bryan Robinson Yeah he's trying to get drunk in that scene, which he does, and you also see him driving later that day in the movie, when he IS drunk. It's not presented as a bad thing or commented on at all, which you would never see in movies now. But it was a great movie.

Gawd I LOVE this song!!! This is my favorite of his. Not only is it incredibly romantic, but you feel like you're in the middle of NYC when you're listening!! Has such a lonely vibe, but he's talking about finding your center -- finding love -- in the midst of the loneliness of this populous city. Christopher Cross has always been an extremely underrated musician, songwriter and singer and I wish him the best and I want to pray for his soul that he's going to make it through this damn virus! Christopher Cross has been a studio musician for so many bands and artists in so many different genres of music since the mid-eighties. And the Academy Award for Best Song in a Motion Picture goes to "Arthur's Theme" music and lyrics by Burt Bachrach, Carole Bayer Sager, Peter Allen, and Christopher Cross. There is another great live video of Christopher singing this song with the leading man of the film 'Arthur' Dudley Moore playing the piano. Dudley was a classically trained pianist, so he plays the song beautifully and Christopher sings it amazingly well live.

I love coming back and revisit these reactions. Christopher was on a plane coming into JFK in New York and had writers block but when the plane had to circle for a delay at night he was watching a flight attendant and the words "Between the moon and New York City) and upon exit he told the attendant "you inspired me to write a song and you will know it when you hear it"... Amazing. I wonder if she ever figured out this was the song.

True story. My mom's first cousin who I met when I was 7, is the original bass player for Christopher Cross. He's a 5 foot nothin mexican american from San Antonio. Christopher Cross entire original band is from here in San Antonio. They were freaking huge in the early 80s. I was cracking up when my dude said I've never seen the show... I was like, stop playing. Then it got real, he's not playing. Anyway, the movie Arthur with Dudley Moore and liza minnelli came out when I was 7. I'm 47 now. I'm that old dude now. Damn...

Awesome how Chris actually let you know your reaction made him smile. Your reactions are always real and it shows how much when it reaches the actual artist you react to. Knowing that’s got to make you feel incredible. Keep on keeping on dude. I’d like you to check out Crowbar- Walk with knowledge wisely . And if you check out any more Van Halen take a look at Mean Street.
