I'd be honored if some Christopher Cross & old-school music fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal cover performances of WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES by Michael McDonald and SEPTEMBER by Earth Wind & Fire on my YT channel in tribute to the late 70s/early 80s groove era. @@christy2808 No, no. Don't get me wrong. I agree. I was just stating that, while Christopher Cross was amazing, had a killer voice, was a world class songwriter and had the music industry in the palm of his hand . Chris Cross couldn't keep up w/ the stage personna and looks that so many other performers have. It's easy to see he's an extreme introvert and shy. He does a really subdued performance. His unique reedy voice, his musical compositions and his lovely songs has him as a favourite and standout even w/ all the amazing music of the 70's.

This song takes me back to almost a decade ago. I was in therapy for depression to the point of suicidal ideation. My sessions were in downtown San Francisco, in the middle of a beautiful summer. I'd been forced to leave my career behind, so I suddenly had a lot of free time for the first time in my life. I had nowhere to be, and no one was going to miss me. So, I started wandering the city. A neighborhood here, a landmark there, mile after mile. Over the years, I ended up covering over 2/3rds of the city on foot. When I walked along the piers one afternoon, this song came on my playlist. I just sat down on one of the benches and watched the sailboats come and go, and felt the warmth of the summer sun. This song helped me get out of my head, slow down, and focus on the moment. And to this day, hearing it takes me back to that summer afternoon near the water.

Thanks for that real human content. Depression is a daily battle even before I have a reason why I'm feeling bad. Some days I can talk to myself in my head & figure out that the sadness or the non production can be broken if I'm willing to fight. But the thing is sometimes I dont have that "choice" type moment. Thanks 4 the post. Was real.

okay, I'm going to give a clue to my age here: This song was VERY popular for couple-skating. no tricks, no stunts, just arms around each other and lazily going around the rink.

Honestly I grew up on this music. Ive heard this song a million times. But Ive never felt like I did watching your face sell the song. I felt freedom, Freedom for you and me as a society. I was 'Lost, in "your lost" in the moments of this song. I feel you made it possible to feel the 'SAILING AWAY"! Not for the love of another person, but sailing for a Better world. One where we see no color, no religion as a superior. Just Peace! Love and faith. Doing these "first reaction" videos has never made me re-feel a song the way watching You find yourself "sailing away". Thank you for doing this one!! God Bless.

I'm right there with you . . I love this man's work. I've seen him live a couple of times in the past 5-6 years and he's as good as ever. He has been so overlooked by the general public as a wonderfully talented songwriter, lyricist, musician and vocalist. "Back of My Mind" and "Walking in Avalon" are absolutely beautiful songs and very few know about them . . which is a shame.

I found you and subscribed. My family owned a Record Store for 15...20 years. MUSIC is ON me, IN me, AROUND me. Escaping and enjoying the memories of family members that have passed, no gun violence, social media, and people were in a much better mood and kinder to each other. Life was slower and less dramatic. Damn..I wish we could all go back...THANK YOU for keeping this music alive Jamel!

My childhood friend, and fellow deputy and later detectives together, listed this song as his all time favorite. He was healthy, worked out, had custody of his two beautiful child (their mother abandoned them). He was an all around great guy! at 44 he was found out he had cancer. He completed treatments and underwent surgery and was to complete more treatments until his last scan where he lit up like a Christmas tree. He refused all pain meds and kept most of this sadness to himself (and me...God I love him) and while both of his children (1 just an adult and the other in high school) were out of the house and his current wife in the shower he went outside with his retired service weapon and mercifully died. this song, of course, was his favorite and played through out his celebration of life. I miss him everyday and it's been 5 years since he's been gone and I see him in every place we ever were together and in this song. Thanks for the great memory!
