The Church of Saint Paul alla Regola, dedicated to Paul, has a chapel that honors the place where he lived for two years under guard in his own rented house and where Paul “welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ-with all boldness and without hindrance!” (Quoted from Acts 28:30-31 in the NIV Bible) The Regola district was near the water and “regola” was the measurement system where the Jewish people made sails and curtains - a logical place for a tentmaker to make his home.
Part 3. Inside the Church of Saint Paul alla Regola we see the artwork related to Paul. Then we go into the current chapel where Paul lived. There are symbols of the sword surrounded by palm leaves. The sword being the symbol for Paul and the palm leaves the symbol of martyrdom.
