Happy Halloween! Researching these old cinema programmes has thrown up some some rather uncomfortable truths about the British filmgoing experience of the 70s and 80s, namely, it was a great deal sleazier than we generally acknowledge! Here's a case in point: viewers looking to enjoy George Romero's horror classic Dawn of the Dead on its original UK release in mid 1980 would first have 'enjoyed' The Great British Striptease Festival, featuring Bernard Manning sweating over a series of 'housewives, dental receptionists and typists' discarding their clothes in the luxurious environs of the Blackpool Tower ballroom.
As it turns out, this 'film' only seems available today on some crummy old VHS tapes. I've included the opening and closing titles for posterity, after which we're back on track with a healthy chunk of creepy (in the better sense of the word) trailers for horrors due for release later in the year.
I had fun rebuilding the logo for Target International, the distributor for both films in the programme - if anyone happens to know of a source for the sound version (which apparently exists) I'd love to hear about it.
