This is an amazing breakdown for a novice untrained amateur like me. Seeing a beautiful image is one thing, but seeing the way the light was manipulated (especially the negative fill - never would have thought of that!) is just amazing, and so helpful to reveal what it takes to create a good-looking image. On the subject of negative fill, would you say this becomes unnecessary as the dynamic range of a camera decreases? Would the reduction in dynamic range serve as a baked-in negative fill, or would it still improve the image for a more limited range (such as with the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K)?
@ANDBERY
2 жыл бұрын
Seems like You are going to break a system, haha. No, it doesn't work like that. If you shot via camera with not big dynamic range, you will just have not detailed shadows and light areas. For a volume, you have to have a difference between light and shadow areas.

I LOVE YOUR WORK! - - - Your cinematography style is outstanding - - - I'm in the market for a new camera at the moment and I've been looking to get either the KOMODO or Ursa Mini 12k, now that they're both in the same price range, I'm wondering what you'll recommend. I love both your videos shot in KOMODO and BMPCC. You did mentioned that you're giving KOMODO "another chance" by shooting this video. IT LOOKS fantastic! - what is your verdict? And if you can shed some light (no pun intended) to what I should consider in choosing between the two cameras. THANK YOU! A fan here.

Hey my friend. If you have skills and opportunity to fix a noise of Komodo in Davinci, get it, this is quite good camera. If not, I advise searching used Red Epic, price is same. Epic is an excellent camera.

Very informative video. I have a question. You pretty much use Arri 1200 HMI as you main lights, do you think that HMI still have something extra over LED light like Nanlite Forza 500? LED are more comfortable to use, no hot restrikes, dimmability etc. but do you think HMI has something that LED cannot beat yet?
@ANDBERY
2 жыл бұрын
The Forza 500 or Aputure 600D have quite high efficiency of lighting, it can light like a 1200 HMI. It means that LED is very roughly more twice as powerful, then an HMI for the same power consumption.
