IN THE OLDEN DAYS THE HOUSEWIVES USED THE PORK FAT AFTER IT WAS FRIED, THUS THE NAME MILLOPITES! NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH "MILOPITA" WHICH TRANSLATES APPLE PIE.... NOWADAYS OF COURSE, INSTEAD OF PORK FAT, WE USE VEGETABLE OIL... VERY TASTY! ENJOY MAKING THEM.... GOOD LUCK!
INGREDIENTS - “MILLOPITES” OR “PISCHIES”
For the dough
2 cups plain flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 scant cup water (110 ml)
1/2 tablespoon Brandy
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
Pinch of salt
30gr of melted butter for brushing
Cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling
Vegetable oil for frying
Ground Walnuts to garnish
For the syrup
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
4 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon
1 piece of lemon rind
1 tablespoon orange blossom water
