@@arcadeportal32 Yeah I mean that is PC gaming for you. Have to upgrade eventually. 1080 is pushing 7 years old. That said I think a 10 series card will be able to play the game in 1080p. Cityplanner plays got a 970 to run it at a framerate I would call playable on very low. The 10 series was a huge leap from the 9 series. I recently upgraded from a 2070 super to a 4070ti because I wanted to max out ray tracing in cyberpunks DLC. I looked up how much my 2070 super sells for and it can be bought for 150 on ebay. That seems like a really good deal considering that card handles pretty much everything besides overdrive ray tracing in cyberpunk. Even handled that game unoptimized before DLSS with ray tracing on without a problem. I think people got complacent about upgrading because it wasn't necessary for so long because everything was getting ported to ps4 and xbox 1. We are in the next gen now. Should they keep making last gen games for pc?

@@arcadeportal32 Sidenote most people commenting on this have no idea what they are talking about. I think Biffa said the most telling thing if I remember correctly. That is if you run out of ram it starts paging to the hard drive. So 32 gb of ram might solve most peoples problems. I actually got 32gb because mods in skylines 1 require tons of memory. Nothing else I play requires that much. Hard drive paging is something I never thought I would ever hear about again, probably a sign of memory leaks. If this happens the game will be extremely slow even if you are paging off a super fast nvme drive. This was a common problem in the windows XP days lol....

I guess I am slightly nervous that I kept watching the video and second-guessing myself. It felt like you were showing Skylines 1. And here and there some features and changes would show up, but graphically, it just looked so much like 1.. So I hope it Really leans into the gameplay being improved (which will be hard as Skylines 1 was quite good) 'cause it will be hard to distinguish from the 1st at the moment. @@djxgam1ng So you know how everything flows downstream? Well, in Skylines 1 the first thing you do is add sewage stations (even with all the later mods that came up). All that sewage flows downstream and, if you had an open-water at the end of the river, or lake, or something, it quickly turned brown. Later on (with mods / DLC) you could try to start 'cleaning that up' a bit, but only if you were able to and chose to unlock the tiles that led you to that body of water where it was all collecting. Otherwise you had this gorgeous view of your finely crafted city, skylines, mountains, and.. poop.

‘Usually’ with Cities….there’s been ONE game, there is no ‘usually’. I honestly think they should have taken the extra time for the polish. Because Cities 1 did so well in recent history people are willing to give it a pass. But the improvement should have been more polish on initial release of the sequel, not the same level of polish. The dilemma here is, do you buy it to support its development or do you sit out and wait for the game to become more developed? Do you wait because it's not worth the price, because it's unplayable, because there are too many bugs or glitches or do you give it a go and accept that it isn't in its optimal state? Do you make do with what you get when you buy it at release? I bought it, to support the game, to support the publisher, to support the developers and to show that there is very much an interest in the game. The game needs a lot more development. But, we don't know what version is released today versus the reviewing version content creators got (I think, not sure). It can be the same, it can be heavily improved. This game needs to be tested now. The low-end pc's, the mid pc's, the laptops, the Windows 10 machines, the Windows 11 machines, the players that take performance over looks and vice versa. Players that push the game to its limit or keep their cities very simple. Releasing it this unfinished as everybody makes it seem will unfortunately impact the reviews of the game heavily, but I hope players will continue to support the development of Cities Skylines II and that we can all enjoy its beauty in the future.

I like that the new one adds some new features and streamlines water and electricity better but it also doesn't look super fleshed out yet. Maybe it just needs some more updates and dlc, Paradox will certainly roll those out, but when you release a new game especially a sequel you want to make it look like it's already a great experience. Think HoI4 vs 3 or Crusader Kings 3, even the new Victoria has much newer graphics and ui that could make it worth checking out for players of other games in the series or want to jump in with a more polished experience that is expected to grow.
