Hi Pete, Nice to see the new floor pans in, even though the whole shell was acid dipped it shows that inside the chassis rails still had rust inside when the old floors were removed, and that was why I decided on my one to do all the acid dipping of the panels myself, as I was removing every panel and replacing it, with new or original back in, it ensured every bit or rust was removed, and then painted inside straight away to prevent any new rust forming, cleaning off and painting it inside like you are doing now,, will make her last years longer, than building it, and covering new formed rust with waxoyl, like most do, your getting so much better with build quality (prep) on this one, I have been building mine over a number of years, and had no new rust forming with the amount of panel prep work I have put in, proof it works!!, Bramble will be a Great car when you have done,
@PeteCswampy

thanks Keith, yes rust still trapped, however theres only a limited amount of cavitiys that cant be accessed, i guess panel folds are the worst to tackle. but you would have to dissemble entire car to get em all

Pete, given the age of the car and the last time it was on the road, the quarter is almost definitely oxy acetylene gas welded as opposed to mig. Drilled plug welds are less likely with gas and it was very common to either fuse the edge of pinch welds or blob a bit of rod on the panel edges. Gas welding is largely a thing of the past now, however it was far more forgiving for in terms of weld prep and great for rusty exhausts. 👍🏻

Nice job Pete. Watched the last few on floor and sill replacement, all looking good. You spotted the cold weld correctly, where it sits on the metal rather than fused to it. No problem with your welds now though, penetration is good and the whole job is far better than some 'professional' repairs I've had to deal with.

its a b and q special , macalastair cheap at 34 quid and GOOD if you take it easy but MUST MUST use zirconia belts for best results, belts are on e bay, 437mm 60 grits, its 2nd belt sander, first one seized the end bearing, though if you go gentle they are good for the money NEED 400W minimum dont get low wattage ones like the SILVERLINE if you want to grind a lot of weld s

Hello Pete, i was sober when i started watching this movie, and now I am not. Thoughts, Nice job fella. Why are you going to have the shell blasted? why not epoxy prime as you move on section by section?. Try oxy-acetylene welding as you go, MIG together stuff then grind off the protruding weld then fusion weld the panels together while planishing often with hammer and dolly,- a pain to get the hang off but worth it. Why do people down vote these videos? do they leave a reason why? odd. maybe they are front wheel drivers. Best regards, Sam.
