I have the entire series on the officially-released DVD (released by VEI). Maureen McGovern also lent her voice to the theme tunes to Out of the Blue (1979) and Goodtime Girls (1980), both of them also made by Miller-Milkis-Boyett Productions and Henderson Production Company, Inc. in association with Paramount Television, both also broadcast on ABC, and both also short-lived, especially the former, which 12 episodes were made: 11 episodes + one hour-long pilot, but only eight aired. Goodtime Girls had 13 episodes although one did not get broadcast on ABC, and like the second season of Angie, also had timeslot shifts: initially, Goodtime Girls aired Tuesday nights right after Happy Days from January 22 to February 12, 1980, but then two months later it moved to Saturday nights right after Angie. Then, after the cancellation of both shows were announced in May 1980, the last five episodes of Goodtime Girls aired Friday nights in August 1980, while Angie moved back to its old Thursday night timeslot for its last four episodes.

@@MP-yz6sb Yes it was coming off the sexual revolution of the 60s of free love. It had to be aired during the 10:00 hour because of the adult themes. Simpler times or so it seemed. Happy memories! Especially when all entertainment was made for everyone/family viewing. Song gives witness to the aim at wholesome people living ordinary lives with occasional extraordinary moments. That’s at the heart of all romantic comedy sitcoms, like this one. I think this little gem of a show might have had a longer run if the writers and producers or whomever just let the show unfold. But if I remember, they pushed too much, changing the characters too quickly and not letting the audience get better acquainted with the characters and the circumstances. The show definitely had a lot of upbeat and positive energy, especially with a good cast that had good onscreen chemistry between them and a script/plot that warmed the heart and spirit. Keep in mind this show debuted in 1978-79 and was dropped in the 1980s as the moods and ideas of the nation and the world was changing.
@rah62
Жыл бұрын
Nah, it didn't have anything to do with lack of "wholesome" times in the 80's or whatever point you're trying to make. The thing that happened to "Angie" happened to many other shows. Once the leads got married, the spark drained out of the series. Same thing happened to "Rhoda", and once the leads got together in "Moonlighting", interest plummeted.
