Poet, novelist, and literary critic Garth Greenwell discusses his new book "Cleanness" and reads from its first story, "Mentor," which explores the trauma, heartache, and disillusionment experienced by a gay Bulgarian student as he comes to terms with his sexual orientation, and his gay American teacher's struggle to provide him emotional support and reassurance. Greenwell also shares his personal experiences growing up queer in the American South and how the LGBT community can derive strength and resilience from art.
