QUESTION: First off, thank you Peter for everything you do. Now my question ... Why do you never ask first world people to drastically reduce or eliminate their carbon footprints? The vast majority of human made green house gases are generated by first world individuals. Governments don't burn much of the fossil fuels that are burned each year. Citizens burn the vast majority of fossil fuels. Citizens create the demand for fossil fuel companies to dig for oil. Canadians have the largest foot print, followed closely by Americans, then Europeans, etc.. I eliminated my net carbon footprint a decade ago. As of today I have reduced my carbon footprint by 250%. I live in Ontario Canada. Seven years ago I installed 6 kW of solar panels on the roof of my house. I had no money for this so I borrowed the entire cost from the equity I had in my home. According to my electricity provider, this is the equivalent of removing 6 gas burning cars each and every year. I gave up gas burning vehicles a decade ago. My vehicles have been a Chevy Volt, then a Chevy Bolt, and now a Tesla Model Y. I will never go inside any gas burning vehicle again. I'll be getting a Tesla Cybertruck in a few months and I'm putting a tiny house inside of it which will be my new home. I have a couple solar ovens which I use to cook meals on sunny days. I have multiple LFP solar generators (with portable solar panels) that will last me decades and are 98% recyclable after that. I use multiple "Wonder Bags" for "heat retention cooking", the most efficient cooking on earth. Almost every person I know could be doing everything I have done, but almost none of them are. First world citizens have to modify their behaviour and make better choices. (1) Put solar panels on your home, (2) switch to 100% electric transportation, (3) switch diet to organic foods (organic foods are grown sustainably and by definition are healthier), (4) try to eliminate your consumption, (5) when you do consume, try to consume locally produced foods/merchandise. Thanks for listening. Peace, Calvin.

O.K. but there are billions of people who simply don't have the money to do what you have done. Imagine a household of 4 lowly paid workers paying high rent to live in a house about 10 miles from Disneyland California. All four have jobs in that area that require using a car to get to and from their jobs & because of their hours of work. (Public transport is not an option.) All four have old Toyota Corollas or Hondas that run on gasoline because electric cars are too expensive & only one car could be charged overnight. What you are doing is commendable but only a tiny tiny fraction of the World's population can afford to emulate your lifestyle.
@Spacemonkeymojo

It is definitely up to individuals to decrease their carbon footprint where possible. You can tell who actually cares about the climate apart from those who don't; the ones that do have taken up vegetarianism/veganism, limit their overseas holidays, don't constantly upgrade their devices each year, drive their car into the ground etc. The ones who say they care but do the opposite like eat red meat every few days, travel overseas every year, upgrade their devices each year, swap their cars every five years are the posers.

@@brentsummers7377The poorest in our society have to be supported financially. Remember that even though there are 8 billion people on the planet, it's only the richest 1 billion people that caused the climate catastrophe. It's the richest 1 billion people that can eliminate their carbon footprints and stop making it worse. I gave up gas burning cars two years before I could afford my first EV. For two years I walked three miles to and from my work. Eliminating their carbon footprints has to be the number 1 priority of every family. Otherwise, they are doing immediate, permanent, and fatal harm to any kind of survivable environment for their children.

I just learned today that, the B-2 Bombers (& their associated fleets of protective fighter jets) The Empire used to bomb Yemen, in the last 24 hours.... ⚡Flew all the way to Yemen from the US, then - returned to the US after they bombed the hell out of strategic spots in Yemen. All the while, the Bombers were kept full of fuel, via 'tanker' cargo planes. I've been saying for over 2 years.... As long as The Empire continues to wage it's - fossil fuels industry supporting - wars around the world, ⚡they, nor any govt has to be accountable for "emissions issues", global 'boiling' issues, or legislation on restricting any kind of industry that supports the fossil fuels industry. I've known for the last few years that The Empire's hegemony &/ or economic stranglehold on the planet was in serious jeopardy, which explains their 'desire' for war. BUT.... It's interesting that their wars come at a time where they - of all global people's - know the impending probability of tipping points starting to fall. Yet, there's no talk of climate issues on Capital Hill, in the least, from either party. [Or, any Capital Hill in Western nations, at this time. (Good subordinate states.)] They just talk War. An industry that supports the fossil fuels industry - to the maximum. (There are NO emissions control systems on any military equipment. By law.) It's either a big "F7ck U" to the rest of the planet, in a way that... They know their Empire is just about kaput, so - theyre going to facilitate burning it down, leaving no one else the chance to pick up the mantle, clean up the mess The Empire has made, & try to carry on. [Just like Saddam Hussein's military, as they left the Kuwaiti oilfields.... "Burn it to the ground." (A 'scorched earth' policy.)] Or.... The Empire is acknowledging that the planet is 'already' F7cked anyway, so they're going to make an attempt at 'glory'. With nothing to lose, & only (short term) dollars to gain.... 🇺🇲⚡One last shot at planetary 'dominance'. I only say this because, you (Dr. Peter Carter), Paul & Regina are a part of a small group of people that would be able to grasp the vastness of what I'm describing. Most people still dont believe in climate 'change'. ("Oh, it's just cyclical. It'll get better.") The fact is.... The Empire is weaponizing global warming, as their Empire collapses & they prepare to leave the main stage. Question is.... Will there be anything left by the time they're gone...? Thank you for the post, sir. Great work. 👍 Trust me, it's not just you that seems to be hyper-focusing on these issues, these days. There is a psychosis in global Western leadership that is pushing the world over the brink. (Unfortunately, it's been captivating to observe.) I can say this because.... In simply considering the data you've collected for this video, indicating the state of the climate.... 🔥 &, yet - nobody is putting the brakes on. As a matter of fact.... It's full steam ahead. Anyway, I digress. If you made it this far, thanks for listening. I'm on an island here.

I have a strong feeling we will hit 2c in the next decade. All the tipping points will cascade and the positive feedback effects will increase, it’s so obvious. There are simply too many people on the planet. More people means more of those people need to live sustainably, but since there are so many people it requires a lot more collective effort to abstain from things like overseas travel and eating red meat, which makes it harder for society collectively to fight climate change. There are too many selfish people around now as well as stupid people who don’t believe in climate change whatsoever, as a result we won’t get out of this. People will revolt if governments imposed limits on people e.g. they can’t eat red meat more than twice a week or they can’t travel overseas more than once a year, people are too selfish to make sacrifices. The bad people far outweigh the good.

I draw attention to 09:00 with 2024 sea surface temp. just a tad below 2023. Shouldn't that be much lower since El Nino gave way to a neutral period in April 2024? My point is whatever has caused so much recent ocean surface temp. rise cannot all be attributed to El Nino. What I think is happening are the oceans as a heat sink have recently become mostly saturated, with much of the new heat going into the atmosphere, thus the 1.75C this past summer in the northern hemisphere. If so, there's no need to project a 3C temp. in 2100, because we'll hit that much sooner. My rough estimate is 2C in 2030, 2.5C in 2035 & 3C in 2045. If that's even remotely close to accurate, the world should forget all their petty differences and come together to stop fossil fuel subsidies and deploy renewables and hydrogen production/electrolysers/ fuel cells for transport on an all in emergency basis. Of course the Republicans will say that will scare the children, but better at this point to scare them instead of leaving them a storm ravaged barren landscape to try and live on.

================================= IS CLIMATE CATASTROPHE IMMINENT? ================================= Let me explain my perspective in the context of the phase transition during water boiling. A nearly linear quantitative alteration in nature precedes a catastrophic event. Consider the instance of water reaching its boiling point. The water heats to one hundred degrees Celsius linearly. The nonlinearity commences here. The temperature remains stable, while the input heat is utilized for vaporization. Localized little bubbles begin to emerge, subsequently spreading and increasing in size, culminating in a quick onset of boiling water. The rise in extreme weather events and their growing severity, together with the emergence of various anomalies, parallels the increasing diameters of bubbles during the phase transition of boiling water. They also indicate that we have already attained a temperature of one hundred degrees Celsius for a considerable duration. Their convergence strongly indicates that a catastrophic collapse is imminent. A single tipping point collapse will initiate further collapses in a domino manner, Crevices are developing and gradually widening at the interface with the bedrock as the Doomsday Glacier flexes with the tide. Nonetheless, it will fail suddenly, resembling fatigue failure, rather than gradually. The transition of status occurs abruptly, rather than progressively. The AMOC will not terminate gradually; instead, it is progressively decelerating, but its collapse will be sudden. The North Atlantic anomaly is growing. It will disseminate abruptly, akin to the film "The Day After Tomorrow" - it is a matter of physics. Do meteorological and oceanographic models integrate this vital observation? Is the climate collapse still being forecasted on linear models?
