The appearance of Galeruca or Clytra (leaf beetle) or scientific name "Criptocephalus Bipuctatus", a species of red and black beetle in the area of Ciudad Real, Madrid and others (although it occurs in many countries of the Western Mediterranean), the arrival of high temperatures. Also some variations within the family "Crysomelidae" as "Labidostomis lusitanica Germar."
These small beetle insects of about 7.5 mm attack the younger plantings and tend to eat the shoots in adult plantations, so it is advisable to be alert to their possible appearance.
Due to its defoliating and voracious eagerness, special attention must be paid to this plague due to the considerable damage it can cause in a few hours, especially in the youngest plantations or in the most tender leaves of adult trees.
In small-scale plantations, it is recommended to do visual surveillance every few days.
It usually feeds on plants of the genus Quercus, Salix, Populus and Pistacia, although they feel a special predilection for certain species of herbs typical of the arvense flora of our fields, of the genera Rumex and Polygonum (romazas, one hundred knots, sorrel, etc).
How to fight them?
You can use insecticides based on pyrethrin (compatible in an ecological way). That is, from dried flower powder of the pyrethrum plant or Tanacetum cinerariifolium without further additions.
The pyrethrum attacks its sodium ion channels, which regulate nerve signals. As a result, the neurons are in constant turmoil, which fatigued and leaves the affected muscles inactive. These sodium channels are less important as we rise to insects in the tree reason why this insecticide is very effective, in worms and insects, even dangerous for fish and reptiles but almost innocuous for warm-blooded animals.
If we are going to use pyrethrins, it is advisable to use the commercial products that have the highest authorized concentration (4%), and to apply late in the afternoon, since sunlight and high temperatures inactivate these products to some degree ( up to 100% in 48 hours). Certain commercial products add natural ligands to their formulation to ensure a longer period of effectiveness. These products act by ingestion and contact so it is convenient to wet the beam and the underside of the leaves well. They should not be applied preventively, because they degrade quickly.
Another possible alternative in ecological line is the extract of the tropical tree Quassia amara.
The extract of Quassia amara acts as a contact and ingestion insecticide, stops the development of insects and causes their rejection. Acts systemically.
As repellent substances against attack, it seems that diatomaceous dust applied to the whole foliar mass, alone or mixed with natural pyrethrins, is causing good effects to increase its effectiveness.
We can use the following foliar spraying treatments to eradicate them with one of the following products, authorized for pistachio in the MAPAMA phytosanitary product registry:
Chlorantraniliprol 20% (Coragen 20 SC - DuPont). Make one application per campaign.
Lambda cyhalothrin 5% (Kaiso Sorbie - Nufarm). Make one application per campaign.

ID
Trait1: On the back it has a black dot on the top of each of the elytra (cover that protects the wings), hence the term Bipuctatus.
Trait2: His chest is orange-colored metal.
Trait 3: The notable difference between males and females, is that the male has a pair of enormously long front legs that he uses to grip the female with better security. Males also have a tighter corselet than females.
