This video is a follow up to a video I did about planting coneflower from seeds using both a cold-stratified batch of seeds, and a non-stratified batch of seeds. This is the link to that original video: • Growing Purple Coneflo...
Do coneflower seeds actually need a cold-stratification period to successfully germinate? After 20 days, the results are in - and they may surprise you!
At the beginning of February I took a packet of coneflower seeds and split it in half. The first half of the seeds I placed in a wet coffee filter, then into a plastic bag that went into the fridge for 12 days. The second half of the seeds were planted directly into the soil without any cold stratification period.
Now that both batches of seeds have had the opportunity to germinate, we can compare each batch side by side to see which method offered better results. Watch the video for the final reveal!
