"can be other answers also" well maybe show us what the other answers can be...... For instance at 1:10, the towing astern where length of tow exceeds 200m cannot be any other answer from that angle... Also, distinguishing between underway and making way is very important and should be specified in the answer.

Maybe we need to make a video explaining underway and making way. We have had some people think that a "standard" power driven vessel does not show side lights when underway, unless she is making way.

@@CoastalSafety The single white light is a very common question for examinations and its important to know it can be: -PDV or S/V underway as seen from the stern -A vessel under 50m at anchor as seen from any angle -The all-round light displayed by a PDV underway under 7m with a speed under 7kts (unless not permitted by national modifications) Sorry for being a dick thanks for the free content

Also vessels under oars displaying an electric torch or lighted lantern. And could be a light on a lifejacket or liferaft.

What power driven vessel less than 50 m in length can be constrained by her draft ? thought they were mainly VLCC’s

Consider a smaller coastal cargo vessel making passage up a small river, where there is a narrow channel navigable by her draught, however there is plenty of room outside the channel for small shallow draught speed boats. The term vessel constrained by her draught means “a power-driven vessel which, because of her draught in relation to the available depth and width of navigable water, is severely restricted in her ability to deviate from the course she is following.”

Yet, none if this will save you from the idiot sailing yacht who decides to turn on all of their navigation lights simultaneously. :D The number of times I've seen Green-White-Green and wondered what it was! Happens way too often.

At 01:52 - Lights are of Vessel Not Under Command, Underway, Not making way through water, seen right ahead. If she was making way, then her masthead lights would have been on.

Which rule are you quoting for the masthead lights for a vessel NUC ?
@georgesaguna
4 жыл бұрын
A vessel not under command does not display mast head lights according to rule 27a. She shall only have her side lights and stern light, and the two all round red lights. Which might make it confusing when seen from astern as it could be mistaken for a vessel aground.

Thank you for your kind comments. So far, viewers are 50/50 on the music. There is always the option to reduce the volume. To be fair, it is mainly the Sri Lankan's that like the music! Many thanks for taking the time to make your comment. What do you think of our other videos?
