A common problematic play pattern in Commander Magic is one of inaction. In this episode, we discuss why Commanders rules incentive inaction and some possible ways to combat it.
Bystanding is the act of inaction while two or more other players waste resources fighting each other so that you can pick off the weakened player who is left. The term is influenced by the Free Rider problem in economic theory, but differs slightly in that you are benefiting only from the weakened state of your foes rather than benefiting directly from their resource usage.
