I like the fact that they keep supporting each other even in live combat with things like "good effort". Keeping everyone positive. And, in training those recruits understood that even after they finish and see live combat, they'll need to do it a few more times to really get confident and ontop of everything they need to know to be truly effective. Things like dealing with injured soldiers without panicking or losing discipline, which is VERY different for real than in practice. These guys are are basically what you get if wanted a regular army's worth of special forces.

When in trouble just call the mighty Apache (if a Warthog isn't available)... I can understand how hard it is for a soldier, who's been through multiple heavy engagements with the enemy, to accommodate to a civilian life. Although I've never been in the military, let alone through a gun fight, I presume that the level of excitement and adrenaline rush is incomparable to anything else in the world. When your life depends on guys from your platoon and their lives depend on your decisions and actions, everyday grind of the civilian life seems more horrible than facing an enemy.

What I've learnt about commandos in the commonwealth: They're not spec ops, they're spec op forces. Totally different style, they're more about show of force than subtlety.

Less than month after finished training and he is leading his troop in combat. What a tribute to the quality of the man and the training. Now, days after the withdrawal, we can begin to put the whole conflict into context. It is not an unusual mix of incompetent and corrupt politicians telling brave servicemen to go and risk their lives - only then to find that political expediency is to make a cowardly retreat, leaving all those Afghans who supported the Allies at great risk to fend for themselves. Have you seen the Taliban now wearing US uniforms, holding US weapons and in charge of US helicopters? Unbelievable. Whoever agreed such a chaotic, short time frame withdrawal is a disgrace to their country. Who, in their right mind, would now trust the US? I don’t and I’m British. It’s not the military that we have to distrust for those are men and women of superb quality but the politicians, the bankers, the arms manufacturers. To paraphrase Kissinger “to be a friend of America can be dangerous; to be a friend is fatal. God bless combatants of both sides. God help the civilians caught in the middle God curse cowardly, fat politicians and their fellow travellers

Funny as hell. Their boss starts off with the "this is a hoofing (british army slang for awesome/amazing) mission weve been......" *sounds of rapid fire, voice goes all squeaky for a bit after* lol.

I’d just gotten back from Iraq in ‘07 and commented on a video I’d seen. A guy sent me a message, back when you could do that on YT, telling me he’s not a 12 year old kid that posts and other things. Long story short, shoots me his fb name and he’s a RM that had just gotten back from Afghanistan. He had some crazy videos that he shot from missions they ran. I remember they’d always leave a card saying, “Terry Taliban it was a nice fight and we’ll see you again soon.” Haven’t talked to him in years and last I heard he made the national news in the UK, not the right reasons, for stuff involving other people in his unit. Crazy how KZitem brought an American in Iraq, at the time, to a Welshmen in the RM.
