We watched both #1 and #2 and this seems to be the simplest way to compost I have seen yet. Rabbit food isn't free - but, if you guy from a Farm store and not at Wally World - the price isn't too bad.

Cabbage being a "green" source and straw a "brown" one, in theory it would work, however it will not be nearly as nutrient filled or as diversely useful as a compost with a wide range of material. i'd suggest blending any kitchen scrap, and if you don't mind the smell/use harmful chemicals, grass clippings will work too!

I'm well studied in the pile. First I got the B.S. (Bullshit), then went on for the M.S. (More shit) and finally earned my PhD (Piled higher and deeper). Now, I'm a backyard gardener on social security raising red wigglers. Always, have a nice day and check out the Ted Talk with Magnus Walker. Also, NutritionFacts.org. Namaste! Tap tap. No black magic. 2017.

put a tarp over the pile and rocks on the edges to keep in heat and keep any snow fall off of your pile!

haha im just going to answer questions for her :p you should (or i do) check my moisture every few days after first making the pile, when you first make it, the pile should be about 50:50 water ratio, or as she says, a ringed out sponge. compost can be used in place of fertilizer, and is what i would recommend as it is a completely organic method. just be aware that using compost tea in excessive amounts can lead to harming your plants

After initially making your compost pile, do you need to check for dryness and add water consistently?? Also, does using compost mean you dont need to fertilize? Or just not as much? Thanks!

Being an experienced gardener, I think it's important to compost, but alot of these videos make composting seem complicated and tiresome.

She said Free at the end but sounded like at the beginning she said she purchased rabbit pellets, that's not free.

While I agree it's great to make compost, this method isn't "free" when you have to buy the rabbit food. Grass clippings are OK if you don't add them all at once and mix well.
