I remember exactly where i was when this was happening, i was walking to work and just left Hunts on Southmead road and traffic stopped as it came over so low i could almost touch it. I remember the detail down to what i brought in the shop lol a packet of lamb and mint walkers sensations. I carried on walking and the heavens well and truly opened!

@@KurdistanLazo yeah but the concorde was a massive money sink and attracted much lower passengers in its final years. the sonic booms meant its actual usability was very limited (basically only services over oceans were viable)

Hi James, I lived on the hill west of the Severn and I remember the prototype being flown over our house and turning to go back to Fairford. That was before the engine noise was moderated. To say that it shook me is an understatement!! I later moved to SE London on the LHR inbound flight path and saw it every day. If that was not enough we could hear sonic boom of the Air France Concorde coming up the Channel (they put an end to that!)

Well followed with the camera there. And youve captured the sound well too. You could always tell when concorde was flying over. It had such a distinctive sound, different from your normal planes. Like its saying - im coming over - come out & look up at me.

It wasn't it's subsonic noise that people complained about. I lived in Cornwall while it was still operational and as it came in from the Atlantic you'd hear the sonic boom which at times was loud enough to rattle the workshop roof where I worked. It's two loud bangs, there is videos on here of sonic booms. It never bothered me in fact it was nice to hear her coming in but there was a number of people who complained about it.
