i doubt it would make any difference. There are so many variables. Today's fighters all fight differently than even 4 years ago. Connor is older - age changes a man. Maybe his current style better suits his current body. Maybe going back to karate would make him worse. Maybe going back would make him better, but today's fighters still would beat him because they are not what he dealt with when he was younger. I remember Dan Henderson's style changed so much over his career, and it was for the better. I don't think Connor is anywhere near as smart as Hendo, though. Not in terms of fight IQ.

I think his karate style worked best when he was at 145 because he had such a height and reach advantage. I think he was still able to use it at 155 because he had long arms and was way more agile, athletic, and much quicker than the division at the time. I think he's slowing down with age and the divisions he wants to return to are bigger, longer, faster, better, and more athletic. I think he would get beat easier at 170 or even today's 155 division with the karate style because of those factors.

Either can be effective. The issue will come down to his actual movement. Connor was effective with his angles, his timing, and his setups. He's now older and bigger. So his reflexes will be a tad slower. He's got a lot of ring rust and has been defeated twice by getting absolutely mauled by his opponent. I think his confidence is rocked, and it will show in this next fight.
