Wow these are amazing what an awesome idea, a true homage to the old systems. Definitely for a niche target audience, I’m sure there are people that want to add that one favorite system to their collection in their man cave or game room but in this arcade format. The light to display the system and the space below to light up your personalized game swag is just a great touch. Ralphs idea of a multi cart will be ideal for these too.

My favorite thing about these is the way you can display your console inside of the cab. Its a great way to show off your collection and still be able to enjoy the games…If Ray can offer a “Cabinet only” kit. It would be a huge hit as most of us already have the consoles and carts. Hopefully he’s able to price it to where its somewhat affordable. The timing couldn’t have been better!

I'm slowly working on my own Sega Genesis cabinet, and I'm really happy someone is able to mass produce these!!! I always thought this was a great idea considering how many classic games work well with arcade controls! I saw their Genesis cabinet on Google images a while back and thought it was just a custom one-off project! I'm kind of tempted to buy that 2600 one once it's available lol, and I'd also love to see cabinets for Saturn, Dreamcast, Colecovision and maybe Odyssey 2? 😅

Love the concept.. they look really nice too. I like that you have área to put collectibles and stuff, making them customizable is going to be important.. this is a great way to do that where the cabinet itself is lit and help display some prized possessions (behind lock and key). I also like they are using a real console and cartridges and not mame .. this keeps the console gaming collections going strong, doesn’t take away through emulation and you can use your own games. Price had to be right.. that’s the big thing. Love it

Cool prototypes, they match the design of their respected systems well. Besides looking like arcades, I feel this more hooks up on Console kiosks that are also gaining popularity at game collectors. In that way you could also call these Custom Arcade themed console kiosks :) I like how in this case they display the console behind the plexy and also the (storage) area below. Hooking up on the Arcade scene they could also design/engineer a cabinet for arcade boards from a specific system, for example let's say Sega System 16 boards, Create trays where you mount the arcade PCB,s on and store those in the lower part of the cabinet, when you want to play a specific game take the tray and slide it in under the control panel like how you slot a cartridge into a console. In my view this could be a great solution for people with limited space that want to play multiple arcade boards, the boards all stored within the related cabinet, want to swap a game pop one out and another in.

I'm a Genesis guy so of course its my fav. I would like a way to use the o.g wired controllers with good cable management tracks to make the wiring barely visible. I've gotten crazy into cable management as of late in my attempt to switch b/t several pc's at will via a kvm and usb switcher hack I thought up. He could add a perforated hole probably in the middle of the control deck but it would have to be as inconspicuous as possible. I also think if he added support for crt's up to a certain size, that would be perfect. HDMI output would be nice. The SMS cab is probably most faithful overall in terms of theming probably b/c of the control pad look he gave the control deck. I love them all though. Less important stuff: use the O.G silver Genesis logo on the marquee (the really big kind you'd find on a launch title that was noticeably fatter than subsequent titles). a mega drive themed variant would be cool too and he might be able to get official sega support if he reached out to them as they seem more approachable than most game companies. I'd put some wood grain on the side of the Atari cab.

When the Colecovision was released and for the n cat year or so, major stores like JCPenny and Ward had a video arcade type cabinet/ kiosk to showcase the Cv Atari also did similar for the 2600and 5200 I recall seeing cabinets for home use, meant for a home tv and console, in the early, mid 80s, though no where near the fit and finish of these units, and no added arcade type controls

These units are similar to the old Quasicades. Q-cades were meant to handle the home systems that were out at the time (X-box , PS2 and GameCube). Q-cade advertised cables that would allow you to switch out those home systems. The trouble was connecting the power and reset buttons to the control deck. It did not work too well with Q-cade. Hopefully 816 learns from that. 816 has really cool looking devices. Specializing on one home system is neat. But allowing for multiple home systems might make their devices more appealing to a bigger market.

I actually really like this idea. I’ve had people come over to my house and always wanna play my NES. But it’s always kind of a hassle trying to reconnect to the TV. This will definitely be a way cooler option. It would be cool if you had a custom card. That basically just extended the card slot to a different location in the Machine. It would probably make switching games easier without reach into the machine. You could even make all wiring harness For the whole console. So you can quickly swap out systems.
