make sure to use a lint free cloth and sunflower oil instead of paper towels and glass cleaner to prevent scratches and easily lift the glue residue when you wipe down the screen after removing the AG coating. then just go over that with soapy water to remove the oil. that poor polarizer coating doesnt deserve all those scratches 🥺learned all this from watchin other AG coating removals and reading the comments so im sharin the knowledge

Glossy for kings! 🎉😂 Nice work. "I'm gonna do all my monitors!" 😁 But i think the ultrawide cant be uncoated without damaging it.

its on my to do list, i think ill even try removing the polarizer and reapply it coz can remove the polarizer, then i would just need to figure that part out, you can buy polarizer from alieexpress, but i would need to do testing

Might try this out on my main IPS monitor (Lenovo G27q-20). Have you had luck with other monitors since?

Problem is some screens now use a matte coating sprayed on that you can’t remove rather than a piece of plastic. How do you tell which one you have? I hate that all gaming laptops have matte screens, looks like horrible screens from the 90’s!

Also what's your experience with the layer from modern displays like 2020s displays

@@stormstout115 if youre doing this to a laptop, they are a bit more prone to scratches i think newer ultrawide displays have the matte layer fused to the polarizer much harder

@@TMProjection Heard it's dangerous to clean it after the matte layer is removed. I was thinking of adding a completely clear screen protector right after a peel and clean.

try this method. It seems cheaper and less invasive. Let me know if you try it!

God man I feel so fucking stupid. I did this with my cheap 120$ HP monitor and followed these steps but left the paper towel on over night. Matte coating comes off perfectly, and I start using the monitor. Over the course of two years wiping off dust I start developing micro scratches even though I make sure to only ever use soft lint free towels and warm water. After a while the scratches start to reduce the contrast and I just throw away the monitor since it was cheap anyway. Watching this video I now know I didn’t wipe off the residue enough and if I just cleaned it for like 10 minutes it would be perfect 🤦

yup, the residue looks so flawless until you wipe it and it eventually comes of, hard to distinguish that its even there

@@TMProjectionhow is the monitor now? Does it develop any scratches when you occasionally cleaning it up?
