As a note, in Ren'Py 7.5 and later, the launcher/theme directory was renamed to launcher/skin.

Good tutorial! I must say that the lovely pastel panel of Jotaro's disks being pulled out by whitesnake is anything but terrible, however.

Wonderful! I even see two use cases here: (1) I have different Ren'Py versions for different games and sometimes get confused which window is what. Having different skins solves that! (2) You might be able to change the skin for the error messages. If they ever get displayed to the user, at least they would look friendlier...😅

I am so sorry, but I couldn’t help myself but to notice the Romanian licensing plate on the sports car at the beginning of the video. By any chance, are you Romanian as well? Or that was just a random stock video from Romania?

As soon as I found out I could do it, I gave my launcher a skin. I've had to use the default skin for tutorials to minimize confusion about why I have Jotaro Kujo on my launcher!
@BumMcFluff

While I admit it would be nice to have a unique skin for the launcher, I have enough trouble getting things to work in Ren'py as it is without changing things around. I am referring to my own coding shortfalls rather than the system itself.

Hey, I'm not sure if you have done a video on this, but do you know of a way to show an animation and play an audio file immediately after new game is clicked? Like on the main menu itself. And after that it cuts to a cutscene. I'm aware of how to do the latter, but the former is hard. Any help is appreciated.
@vimi

In the screens.rpy file, the "New Game" button is treated like any other menu button, and you can give it an additional action to play a music file. A button animation is a bit trickier; there are a few ways you can do it, but if I were you, I'd just make a screen that gets overlaid on top of the button press, and call it within that same button action. You can see how to do most of these things in my screens tutorial video!

can you make a tutorial?: clicking on an image will make it do an animation, clicking on another image in the same screen will stop the first animation and second image will do an animation.

I am new to Ren Py and so this might be a noob question.-- How do I jump to specific parts of my game to test it. Example: You've added 5 hours of content to your game and find an issue . You make changes and then need to test it. How do I test something without having to start at the beginning.
@vimi
2 жыл бұрын
You can press Shift+0 to open a developer console, and then type in "jump" followed by your label name, and it'll jump you to that section. Otherwise, I'm lazy, and I'll just manually add that jump tag right after my start label; sometimes it might break stuff if you don't have certain variables set, but just make sure every variable has a default state, and you'll generally be in good shape!
