the green wire is a ground wire it goes bolted on the engine anyplace is just a ground but if you don't hook the green you would not get any spark and the red one is ignition wire so it also has to be attached

I have a little Chinese 4 stroke 50cc dirt bike. The electric start works but it works even with the kill switch off! So basically the issue is with the kill switch which is weird as it’s such a simple mechanism! Usually I have to turn the kill switch “on” and then press the start button. The bike has no key, just a simple 5 wire system with an ignition switch to the spark plug, two wires from the start button and two from the kill switch - it has a CDI, a solenoid relay, rotor style magneto stator, voltage regulator.. I’ve checked resistance between all the wires (except the stator as they are all well insulated and very thin so I’m scared to cut into them unless I have to) - the starter relay and battery and spark plug are all brand new. Could it be the flywheel position? As I did have a play with this at one point. Should it be set to “T” or “F” or one of the little lollipop type symbols?? Could this be the cause of the kill switch not working?? Or is it more likely to be the wiring to the starter motor at the front of the bike near the spark plug? It’s hard to access the starter motor but the wiring harness into it is very squished between the skid plate guard and the main engine housing- so could it be that those wires are no good?? I know it’s not quite on topic but I’m a single mum can’t afford a mechanic and want desperately to get this working for my boy for Christmas! I know it’s something simple the bike is brand new but has been in storage a long time. The kill switch worked fine until I took the bike apart to clean replace parts and I fiddled with everything now it doesn’t work. Nothing wrong with the actual kill switch itself- I have a spare and it doesn’t work either when hooked up. The only other thing is that the start button isn’t back on the handlebar yet it’s just dangling- but I assume it is grounded as it has two wires one red/yellow to the solenoid relay and the other black would be ground? Or do I need to mount the switch on the metal handlebars to ground it?? Thanks sooo much!! If you reply you will seriously be making one Aussie mum extremely happy I’m so frustrated and upset 😭

I am most certain that it definetly does have to be grounded that is why when you press it then shuts off,is it like the simple push in ones? Or the one the switches from off(engine killed) to start?

@@kikemotors6138 omg thank you soo much for replying!! I’m with the bike now haha! The start button is a simple push button. I thought the red/yellow wire was power and the black wire was ground? Maybe I’m wrong! If it’s this simple I’ll be over the moon. The kill switch is the on/off rocker style. The start button is here:- encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRXrx4fWzBaJG9PuZFb2lAJub3uvaG7PNK8Eg&usqp=CAU

@@Dr_KAP the kill switch might have a short or maybe they could both be bad you said you tried another one also ? If not open it up they might also be stuck so it could constantly stay on the on position I don't think it has anything to do with the stator

@@kikemotors6138 yes! I saw a post online about a boat that had a kill switch. Someone said if you dropped it in the water you would still need to be able to start your boat. So start the bike and then kill it with the kill switch (which is currently open circuit as you’ve had it disconnected and off the bike) then you’ll know it works. Then the next time you use it you’ll have to turn the kill switch on first and press start button as usual as it will have returned to its usual closed circuit state. Hope that makes sense !!

@@kikemotors6138 Thanks man, yeah, I had eventually gotten it off, I wasn't aware of the tight o' ring,,, lol, and wasn't ready for oil to start pouring out, either. :) The biggest headache was the Philips head bolts holding the plate on, I had to wait for a manual torque driver as they were torqued strippable tight, and I couldn't see making matters worse, so I waited,,, and got it done finally.

Is the bike stock or do you have anything added like aftermarket light that could be to much amperage for it to handle if not it could be the regulator/ recitifier not working right also I think u can find videos to see if they work by checking ohm readings
