Schools typically perform background checks on teachers and school employees as part of the hiring process, and being fired would show up on that. I've worked for a few different schools and being fired is not something that shows up on a background check. Schools are looking for criminal backgrounds and those do not include whether or not someone was fired. They also run what is called a live scan which is your fingerprints. Now, none of the districts I worked for required a drug screening, but that is something that could be asked of you. Also, unfortunately, background checks only show if someone was caught and sentenced - and usually it will only show the last five years. When an employer is looking into a potential candidate, they can also look outside of the criminal background such as your social media, credit score, address history, loan history, and college transcripts. However, as a kid I went a private school and those are a totally different ballgame... you don't even need a credential/masters to teach at one! That aspect would be exponentially worrying for me if I were a parent. Anyway, just thought I could lend some clarification 🤷♀️🤷♀️

You get put on this registry for of course being charged with a child related crime but also if you had a case opened with cps even if you were never even charged with anything you will still be put on the registry. I thought every stated had this but I guess not bc lately I see comments saying how it’s needed so I’m assuming it’s just an Arkansas thing? Correct me if I’m wrong. The following is a quote I gathered from youtube from a school teacher commenting on another similar video: @Falconlibrary I was a teacher for thirty years. Female and male teachers have always offended in roughly equal numbers, but it was ALWAYS covered up when the offender was a woman. Here's what happened at the last two high schools where I taught: HS #1: Male coach was bedding female students, got fired, lost teaching license, lost marriage, went to jail. HS #1: Female teacher was bedding male students, resigned, got paid off on the balance of her contract, kept teaching license, kept marriage, did not go to jail, is teaching today. HS #2: Two male teachers caught, both had same consequences as male in HS #1. HS #2: Female assistant principal caught with female students, was allowed to resign, kept license, didn't go to jail, moved to another district, is now principal of a high school. If you want to see less women molesting their students, then hold the female teachers just as accountable as the male. Pretty mind bending that I would even have to say such a thing.

Male students do not report their female teachers. The male students internalize it and fear that they are the problem and end up saying nothing. 1973 Natick Mass I was in the 3rd grade. The house we lived in backed up to the fence in the Johnson Elementary school back parking lot. My mom would often walk me to school and be there at the end of the day to walk me back home. My mom and my 3rd grade teacher became friends. My 3rd grade teacher always paid attention to me and helped me with schoolwork whenever she saw that I was struggling with it even when I wasn't really struggling with the schoolwork. By the end of the 3rd grade school year in 1974 she was telling my mom that she would come to the school on Saturdays to help me with schoolwork if my mom would bring me there. My mom would and I would stay at the school for about 2 hours with my 3rd grade teacher. The last month or so of school that year, my teacher asked if I wanted to do something outside of school since I was progressing very well now. The winter of 1973 was a horrific winter for Massachusetts with lots of snow. My dad and my two other brothers would walk to Coolidge Hill pulling a toboggan and all 4 of us would slide down the hill for hours at the time. I always enjoyed being at the top of the hill as you could see out over the town of Natick. Coolidge Hill is about 1/2 mile walk from Johnson elementary. So, I mentioned to my 3rd grade teacher that I wanted to climb the hill with her and look out over the town. She agreed and asked my mom for permission and my mom agreed. The following Saturday instead of meeting my 3rd grade teacher at the school, she would pick me up at home. We drive over to the hill and walk up the hill. There is a picnic table at the top of the hill that looks over the town. We sat there to rest. We sit next to each other. After a few minutes she takes my hand and places it on her lap. I think nothing of it. She then starts running her fingers through my hair. I really like that. She starts kissing my cheek. Then she really starts kissing me. I was 8 years old, and my mom almost never kissed me, and I had no idea what kissing was about, but I did like it for the attention she was giving me. I went on to touch her hair and kiss her a few times, but I had no idea what I was really doing only giving back to her what she gave me. We walked back down the hill hand in hand. Something I've never done with my mom before. After that day, she stopped talking to me in the classroom, she stopped meeting my mom after school to make sure I got home okay. The last Saturdays of the school year she made excuses to no longer provide help. I thought it was something I did wrong. Did I not kiss correctly or something? I internalized it, even cried over it. Never said a word about it. 10th grade my English teacher took a liking to me for some reason. She would give me higher grades than I actually deserved. She even set me up with a girl in one of her classrooms to take to the prom. My English teacher started poking me with her finger. I would try to poke her back and she would try to swat my hand. Eventually she would stick her rear end out and I would try to slap it. I did the same and she would slap mine. Eventually she would let me slap hers. The game moved on to her sticking her face into mine and making funny faces at me. One time it turned into after making a funny face at me she would rub her nose on my nose. After several days of that, she moved in to rub her nose on my nose and I didn't move my head to move to her movement. She stopped to look at me. I kissed her. She didn't move or refuse. It turned into me stopping by her classroom on my way to other classes to let her kiss me. Of the 30 or so times I would stop by her classroom one of us or both of us would grab the others rear end. I do remember one time before the end of the year meeting her in the parking lot and making out in her car with her letting me touch her chest. One of the last days of the school year she told me that she couldn't see me anymore and to leave her alone. Again, I was heartbroken. She didn't return to the school for my 11th grade year. I've never trusted women since. I've never spoken about it to anyone as I never felt either teacher was doing anything wrong, and it was always my fault when the teacher ended the relationship as I must have done something wrong. Yet, I never knew what that wrong was. This is the very reason why female teachers never get reported. We don't feel like we are being violated. We just feel like we have done something wrong.

Giving a teacher that u KNOW has been drinking the opportunity to resign instead of being fired is irresponsible and a danger to children. If a teacher has been fired before, her next employer is going to look into that and likely not hire her but letting her resign prevents the red flags from her past from being seen when her next potential employer goes to look into her background. Especially if the principal ends up working for a different school system, there will be no one to confirm the truth as to why she resigned and no one will know the danger they are putting innocent children into.
