These look so healthy at 10 weeks. I’ve been avoiding this breed due to the need to butcher on time and inability to breed. I may give it a try after seeing your birds. Very nice

Sprinkle lime down over the manure to adjust the ph value so it’s not so acidic. Your grasses will love you. I always used lime to rejuvenate an old horse pasture.

Wish you can make video of them until 2 years old. Wanna see. Btw, you can avoid the pallets and corn, but just red rice, barley vegetables like sprout bean, lettuce, tomato, and sweet potato or cassava.the most important for winder, is using the ginger cut pieces and boiling it around 10 to 20 minutes, and let the chickens drink it for them. It is the drink for human as well for flu. So people can immunize the body, so you are healthy.

I didn't realize you had a farming channel, glad I now know. One of the reason people slaughter broilers at 8 weeks is the roosters are known to have leg issues, some even have heart issue from growing so fast. I love that your using a chicken tractor for them. My research has shown after about 6 weeks of rest the spots where the tractor was will recovery amazingly. It created more clover in my yard which is great for the bees.

In my limited experience, I liked to butcher the hens earlier than the roosters. I let the cockerels get up to 8-10 lbs and then we baked them in the oven like a small turkey. They were so good. The poults seem to just put fat on after they reached that 5-6 lbs. Chickens that have the chance to forage outside on grass taste 100 times better than any chicken locked up in cage.

Have you looked into building a Chickshaw? They’re great for keeping birds healthy (not living in their manure) and no need to clean out a pen. Plus you can determine where the manure gets placed on a yard/field.
