@AfricanElements
8 ай бұрын
Thanks to your question. More accurately I'm into "Black Studies," which is a more politicized version of the discipline. I initially was drawn to it because I was tired of people telling me who I was (both black folks and white folks). The discipline emphasizes understanding one's identity and What identity is rooted in. Beyond that, though, I remained in the discipline because the politics are valuable in addressing everyday problems within Black communities. It's through Black Studies, for example, that I have a better understanding that more policing is not a viable solution to the problems within the Black community. The problems must be addressed within the Black community itself.

She was born in Dorchester County, Maryland and lived there until 1849. She then moved to Philadelphia so the story implies. However, she arrived in St. Catharine 1850 when she was 27-28 yrs old. No details of how she arrived there. The trip by car today is approximately over 400 miles. I can't imagine how long it would take to walk 404 miles.. In the scientific method you can't start at the conclusion (Because in reality there isn't one yet) to form a claim as FACT or TRUTH ? or One observation? or Make it a Universal law without a theory , You can't make a theory without a hypothesis , you can't make a hypothesis without "empirical evidence". In this case (history) literary sources , Oral Tradition , Achorology, DNA evidence and other methods of science . A Hypothesis only ask the question. The hypothesis needs to be tested , examined critically many times by many peoples before you can make a theory (Claim or Truth ) and then apply "inductive reasoning" If You can't test it then its pseudoscience in this case pseudohistory. In testing it the other testers my find more evidence . Making your case even stronger before you actually make a Theory . That's why Good Historians and scientist work in Peer Groups (even if they don't like each other. ) Your method uses a Deductive reasoning which can only make one conclusion (bases on the glasses you wear). You can't use Deductive reasoning in History , Science or Law. Deductive reasoning would indicate guilt or the outcome even before the evidence is even known to the audience or jury. Therefore eliminating critical reasoning , critical thinking form the listeners, audience or jury. This is why in court you are innocent til proven guilty (or at least its suppose to be that way) . the Burden of proof is always on the accuser , prosecutor, or the person making the claim . "inductive reasoning" takes all the known evidence into account vs " deductive reasoning" which can cherry pick facts to support your conclusion.(Religion or Propaganda) .

I think that perhaps, the biggest mistake people make when engaging historical events and people is many attempt to gauge and access history through contemporary modern eyes and lenses based on the current understanding. As long as the Jetsons are trying to understand the Flintstones from a modern technological point of view, the Flintstones will always be seen as primitive. People keep saying show me proof or a picture etc as if such technologies existed way back when. It's not like they had dental records, fingerprint capabilities. What you have is a younger generation that can only understand through digital and cyberspace capacities. I can recall a time when the words cell phones and computer wasn't even used in the same sentence with black people. Now suddenly we are some cyber junkies and everyone thinks that THEIR narrative is 100%. Iff black were as indigenous as many claim, there would be traces of the language, food staples/traditional dishes etc, in the current language patterns spoken by blacks. Modern contemporary black culture is void of anything "" Native American/indigenous ". Everyone keeps referencing 1800s. It's not in your art, language/linguistics and speech patterns, folklore and overall cultures. The we weren't slaves we were Cherokee or Choctaw stems from the fact that identifying with Africa and slavery placed you at the bottom of the racial hierarchy and blacks did not want to identify with anything African or slavery. It was a reminder of subhuman treatment. I've come across many younger people attempting to construct family trees for family reunions and learning that what Big Mama told them about being Choctaw was bogus. "But Big Mama, who was YOUR grandma ? Child I don't know. We didn't talk about dem type of things. People are.finding out who they were told were their aunt's and uncles was false and who their cousin is is really their sister and so on.

His Catch Phrase is: (I'm just here to make you think) So basically he's saying don't take his word on what he's bringing forward but do your research to find the truth,,,,which if you know your history his information does make you think and will prompt you to get up and do the research to see if he's accurate or not and there's quite a few errors he does make but i can tell you this: if you're studying history of any kind or time period and you don't begin with the scriptures first you can never truly know your roots.. Life didn't begin in america it began on the African Continent which at that time covered a wider portion before the conquests of colonization.. 1. I made no attempt whatsoever to debunk him. That wasn't the point of the video. 2. Rejecting the church records just because they come from a church is a logical fallacy. In addition to the church records, I also cited William Still's first hand account which you have conveniently chosen to ignore. He worked on the underground railroad, wrote in detail about it, and also collected letters and correspondences from other operatives on the underground railroad. 4. I've already deconstructed Dane's video and explained why none of the so-called evidence he presented backs his claim. I noticed in comment section you have called Dane a “cult leader”. While I am not arguing it merit, or perceivable truthfulness. Why does it feel negative or like condemnation coming from you? Is not America a big cult? Is not the root word of Culture cult? Was that not what our Ancestral tribes were basically? I respect your do diligence in your research. But let’s be clear... people lie, they put lies in books, new papers, and everywhere else. It doesn’t take a degree to understand that fact. Dane Calloway is always encouraging people to think for themselves and to do their own research. You are very passive aggressiveness distain for Dane and what he has sewn into Black CULTure is tamed but still dishearteningly apparent..... It’s divisive and this kind of scrutiny keeps us pitted against each. Dane is clearly dealing with a lot of trauma as he has had little support in bringing much of his finding to the forefront. Where as those who commentary flow along the lines of what historians like your self choose to share is often highlighted as fact. So Dane pain and passion are understandable. In closing No matter how intelligent a person claims to be it takes actual wisdom to know when something is working against us rather than for us as a whole. I’m not a blind follower. I question everything even Dane sometimes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Harriet wasn’t real but even if she wasn’t I know a woman like her existed. Same a with Rosa Parks she made it to the HIS story books but she was not the first woman that refuse to give up her seat. There always more to the story. So I will celebrate Harriet’s narrative fact or fiction because it empower me. I personally try not to be smug and pompous unless I feel personally attack.🤔So I guess my question is has Dane somehow made you feel personally attacked?

The Harriet Tubman story was just that. The author has her name on the book. It was made to Garner sympathy and support for abolitionist agenda. The same thing so called 'liberals' have been doing for the last century: using our suffering to further their careers, organizations' recognition and political power. Individuals have been collecting a stipend in Harriet Tubman's name. Just as BLM has made thousands upon the Lives of our young people. Meanwhile this society continues to point fingers at our communities and holler, "Pull yourself up...!" Yet when we do their jealous rage kicks in to appropriate what we've made - or take our lives. It's time to awaken from the American Dreaming. ------------------

Dane is no historian nor scholar. No single black scholar or historian in any part of the world agrees with Dane. Here is a solid proof that we came from west Africa. African-derived religions in Brazil include, most prominently, Candomblé and Umbanda, as well as Xango, Batuque, Cantimbo, and Macumba, which are regionally associated traditions Cubans from many different walks of life find inspiration in orisha religion, a spiritual practice with West African roots that is sometimes called Santería. Those who follow this path seek guidance from orishas, sacred beings who reign over human endeavors and the forces of nature. Haitian Vodou is an African diasporic religion that developed in Haiti between the 16th and 19th centuries. It arose through a process of syncretism between several traditional religions of West and Central Africa and Roman Catholicism. Santería. Santería is an old-world religion rich in symbolism, which is practiced in much of the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico. It originated with the Yoruba people of Africa, in what is known today as Nigeria. With the slave trade came the Yoruba religion which quickly developed into what is today called Santería Trinidad Orisha, also known as Shango, is a syncretic religion in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean, originally from West Africa (Yoruba religion). Jamaican Maroon religion The traditional Jamaican Maroon religion, otherwise known as Kumfu, was developed by a mixing of West and Central African religious. Where is the native religion among black people? None.

I totally disagree with Calloway on this. Tubman was going from "house to house," not "route to route" as in 'with a map'. Also, she was married twice and had an adopted daughter, and if I recall correctly, a sister and two brothers also. The graves of her relatives and both husbands (she remarried after her first husband died and THEY adopted a girl)...they have grave markers and there are a hand full of photos of her with them. He is absolutely wrong on that. The 'false evidence' of Tubman's existence would have had to be elaborately conceived - even 'faking up' her husband(s) and other relatives and her daughter AND their deaths - in order to pull that off.
