My by far favorite song. Heard in 97 rockfest at Texas. We were at main stage for most of the bands

Painful and beautiful to listen to this again, my ex wife’s and I favorite CD for a while, played over a killer weekend at the beach. She left about 20 years after. Still hurts sometimes

Wow, this song brings back old memories of a long gone love I had when this song came out. It was "our song" during a summer road trip and to this day I often reminisce about that time and her.

i remember hearing ''daylight fading'' on the radio a lot,,also cc's next single ''have you seen me lately'' i really thought back then those 2 songs would be classics like all the hit songs on ''august and everything after'' all i can say is i am very disappointed that these 2 great songs along with cc's great album ''recovering the satellites'' never got the same recognition as all the big hits from august and every thing after...imho daylight fading is a song that should be remembered...

I agree 100%, having said that, seeing them live always has a bit of disappointment cause He always changes the way he sings the songs. And in the early years he would be so bombed he would stumble and leave out whole verses. But this is a Solid live Performance. He did change the melody a tad like in the end La Las but I actually thought it Improved the song a bit. Gave it a tad more Angst. August and Everything After still Remains my Fav album. Musical and Lyrical Genius.

@@tspoonhunter yeah ive heard that about some of their live shows. ive seen them three times over the last ten years and they were always solid. adam probably sobered up a bit. i think he likes to take some artistic liberty with the melodies to keep it fresh for him and the band.

Hard to hear this. My time spent in a naval hospital in the Marines that year, the pain the three of us endured. When I was discharged with the PTSD, and home, these lyrics hit me so hard. 1997....

For me it is a sad thing to realize that the current musical era is moving away from the "muse" aspect of what made listeners appreciate music for what it was, no matter what genre it is. I went to see some live acts in Santa Monica last month and was excited to see new younger artists but the event itself was filled with narcissistic people who were busy with their smartphones, taking selfies and mingling amongst their tiny cliques. The music played on stage was for the most part ignored and treated like background music for a social event. The only people watching the band and grooving to their beats were myself and probably six other strangers while hundreds of others were basically ignoring them. I know this is anecdotal but you can't help but notice how we have become spoiled by technology and the excitement about a new album release just isn't there and the popular stars today are too busy hyping their celebrity-worth and social media "trending" status than creating music for us to ponder and enjoy.

Music/audio nerd here with a fun fact I just noticed about the audio mixing on this performance: at the beginning of the performance, the guitars were backwards in the stereo mix, you can hear Bryson on the 12-string in the left channel even though he's on our right visually, and Dan on the Tele in right channel and on the left visually. The mixing engineer apparently noticed this mid-performance and fixed it, because there's a little bit, I think like second verse, where both guitars are centered, and then by the second chorus, the stereo field of the mix matches the audience perspective. Could be the entire mix that was backwards, it's hard to tell anything other than the guitars.

Ok so I'm pretty sure it's the whole mix actually, and they switched it to mono briefly at the end of the first chorus and then to the correct stereo field a few seconds later. They probably did that to make the change less noticeable, and, yeah, they did a good job, I didn't notice until probably about the 20th listen or so on a cheaper system but still with probably a better stereo field than any TV in the 90s. They pulled it off subtly enough for it to fly under this nerd's radar for a while.

@@thunder____ good call. wonder if the had their monitor mix label backwards or something. i do live sound sometimes and we have that happen at caddies (washington dc) because everyone saves thier pre-sets wrong on the mixer

I've found Adam's vocal delivery in live performance to be an acquired taste and I'm starting to come around to it after years of disliking it. Your mileage may vary and it's totally valid to not dig it and not want to go see them live, but I also encourage all of you to give it a shot every once in a while and check out a live video or two, it might grow on you.
