In my opinion, no one needs to see your whole house. Unfortunately not everyone is good hearted with good intentions. Your a crafter. Or as Tim holtz says... a Maker. So am I. A craft room tour possibly but why on earth would anyone need to see your whole home? Soooo that said, please don’t feel you need to explain yourself. You are such a talented, wonderful person. It’s an honor to learn from you. 😁👏 ps I love the door counter. Fantastic idea!!!

I think satchat is a winner! I personally wouldn't invite thousands of people into my home. That's MY space. MY sanctuary. And only a trusted few get invited in. So don't ever feel like you need to explain why you want to protect your space. That's where you are free/safe to be who you really are. Btw, I love your colorful paint job on your table!!! Also, I have to wonder, about the tutorials, if we are just being overwhelmed. It seems like everyone is producing much more content, but I even find myself steering away from general tutorials. I will look for something specific and watch that, but.....these satchats are more like catching up with a friend at the end of the week. I think that's the appeal. For those that can't be out and about, they can spend some time with you and it's a lot like having a friend drop by. They can pause the video, make some tea/coffee, (I just had a very late breakfast with you, lol), and maybe not feel so alone or isolated. Anyway, this is way longer than I expected, sorry. Enjoyed your chat and looking forward to the next one. I hope you have a great week!

I definitely relate to what you said about not spreading negativity and not putting that kind of vibe out there. It's one reason why I tend to paint "pretty" and upbeat pictures. Art is my escape from negativity, so that's why I tend to create positive things. I don't think there ever can be enough positive things in the world which is also why that's the kind of art I like to put out there. And you are right, none of us are happy all the time and when we are online we get to choose what part of us we show to the world.

When we painted our kitchen, I thought a nice deep merlot would be different. Five coats of paint!! And good grief, when I got tired of it, painting over it was an absolute nightmare. So be thankful you didn't paint the kitchen first. I work at home like you and understand what you're saying about keeping your work life and family life separate. It's hard enough without showing your private life to the world. Keep your private space private. Thank you for showing your happy side to us, it makes a nice change from all the negativity online right now. Love the Sat Chat, we get to know you even better. I read where a lot of people are now in the middle phase of dealing with a crisis, which is regression. Lots of sad, frustrated people and seeing your happy face gives us hope for the future. Lots of love!

Please keep your Sat Chat going. It's a real bright spot in my week. I applaud your decision not to film your whole house just to satisfy the curiosity of strangers. Craft room tours are different. I've gotten some great ideas from you and others on how to best store my stash, but your family deserves some privacy. Popcorn ceilings are horrible! It was just cheap and easy for contractors. They collect dust and grime and are a misery to remove. I love how you have recycled those hollow core doors. I remember having to try and get them back on the tracks.

Thanks for the visit Lindsay. Perfectly understandable no to do a home tour. Some things are private and sacred. Being on KZitem opens up creators to enough criticisms. Who needs that in every part of their life? I'm about to house paint my kitchen table. The furniture paint I used last summer is to soft and nicked up badly. I figure house paint has to withstand nature so it may have a chance with my troops. Take care 👍💖💖💖

Ah, Lindsay, so many things I want to say to you! First off, I wish I could meet you in person--I LOVE the approach you take to teaching, and to sharing your knowledge with your students. I love how you talk about protecting your students' right to watch your classes and therefore how, if the Teachable platform were to ever be taken down, you would find a way to record them for your students. And I, too, remember reading the negative comments on your kids' room decor video, and I could NOT in a thousand years understand why anyone would belittle all your wonderful work. I think that the people who do that just want to spread negativity, and take those opportunities to do it. I hope you know that we (your fans) had your back in that video, as we do now, and we loved your ideas and the decor project (as did your kids did, obviously). On that note, though, it totally makes sense that you would not want to do a house tour! Why would you? That's your personal space, for you and your family and friends to use. So there's nothing for you to feel bad about. I love your videos and always look forward to them. Even though, as you said, no one is happy one hundred per cent of the time, I think you have one of the most wonderful personalities I've ever encountered. Keep doing what you do. :) Take care.

My mother told me that they painted the kitchen in their first apartment just about the shade of red in your swatch (even the ceiling) and they used white as an accent color. She said it was the cutest kitchen she ever had but it was awful for cooking -- everything looked red. Boil a pan of water and the reflection looked like a pan of blood. I can only imagine what mashed potatoes looked like. So, maybe you dodged a bullet by being too impatient for four coats of paint.

It makes more sense while Bluprint failed now. It annoys me that I have all that money tied up in classes that I may never get to watch. Many were bought as a reference, and I used as I needed. I love how they were called “forever classes”. It sounds like a basis for a lawsuit unless they are able to make it so people can continue to watch the classes that they bought. I have an IPad, I don’t have a computer, so limited storage. I hate to think I’m going to have to buy a computer to be able to have an access my classes. People loved Craftsy, but hated what Bluprint did to it. They did away with interaction between instructors and students also. Wish someone would buy them and run it right.

As a long time viewer of your beloved tutorials, I think my viewing time currently is being spent on watching news channels as the current state of our country is so sad and troubling to me. I am one off those viewers who would love to see this new space you are creating in your home! But if you don’t feel comfortable showing your current home improvement, what about drawing us a picture? That would satisfy my curiosity a bit. I, too, live in a 70’s ranch with popcorn ceilings and hollow-core doors! How funny it is to share that blast from the past!! I would love to see a picture of the new ceiling though. Thank you for putting a smile on my face for a bit today!

Got the Craftsy email too and sent them an email asking about getting my classes from them already downloaded onto media (sticks, small hard drive, etc) for a nominal fee. I’ve been with them from the beginning and have nearly 300 classes at this point and haven’t watched them all yet. Interestingly enough, this was my last year with them. As far as showing your home, I personally don't blame you one bit, girl! I wouldn't be comfortable with that either, guaranteed, and it's not because it's awful or anything, just too personal for me, I guess. Hi! I’m new to your channel & looking forward to learning lots of ways to craft on a budget! I’ll just say that I don’t understand people who feel the need to get on someone’s post & criticize the poster. Helpful suggestions are one thing, but if someone is just being mean or difficult, they need to just move on! I’m not great at coming up with ideas on my own, & I’m definitely not one to film, edit & whatever else is involved in creating tutorials, but I certainly appreciate those who are! If someone’s style isn’t my favorite, I just find those that I enjoy. There are plenty out there to choose from. Best wishes on your addition! I got a craft room when my kids left home, too. 😊

Sat Chat- YES! Love the door painting and the bright and vibrant color choices for your addition- that door design would make a really cool accent wall but then my personal taste runs to eclectic. I think it was lovely to show us the colour swatches, but very wise to know not everyone would have the same taste & some would comment about this, because they don’t stop to think that the renovation isn’t designed to suit their taste, it is specific to your family, plus, your family may not feel comfortable with kids they hardly know at school, let alone strangers, having access to scrutinise their sanctuary. We come for the craft and conversation, but I think maybe because the isolation has gone on so long we are even more into the chats because we are missing that in our lives above all else right now. After reading some comments, it sounds like some people are really missing being able to go to the shops too, hence watching haul videos, and not being able to shop seems to be making people not want to use up craft supplies in case they can’t get more before the situation is resolved. I personally would love to be using up my supplies, but I am still reorganising after moving, as the space is very different, & once I change one thing it seems to lead to having to change another, in a snowball effect & even though I took photos prior to moving to help set everything back up, I didn’t take enough. But rather than complaining about this, I am grateful for the facts that it really is a complete distraction from the situation & it is going to be more efficient, tidier (at least for the first day 😀) & decluttered.

Oh, you are so sweet to share all your knowledge with such enthusiasm and detail. First I come to you and then I search others who often reference your reviews of products before I invest in materials. Not that I don't trust you but to see if there is another way I might increase my understanding of what the product can or won't do. It amazes me for one that claims to be impatient the process you go through in your imaginative drives. Holding back and minding the discipline... Popcorn ceilings are the creation of twisted minds to torture future people with any sense of a beautiful environment. I am on the last 80 Square feet of reapplying the second skim coat of mud now. At 70 this is just as miserable a task as it was when I was in my 50’s 🤣 Finally, it has been many years since I did decorative painting, but I believe if you use a grey color first over the surface you are painting, instead of a white primer, the red will cover better and require fewer coats. I want to experience creating a wall with mixed stencils using mud to raise the design and then distress it back. I want to apply washes on top of a base color to mute it and give it a unique aged look. However, everything is so modern now and plain that it might just make a future buyer walk away. 😩 Thank you so much for sharing. I have learned so much from you and been reminded of many things that drifted away. I love the way you talk to the camera. The experience is personal and genuine. No one else is like you.

I would never do a house tour of my personal space. I would not mind showing the work space tour, but never my personal space. That is like asking can I see your underwear vibes coming from people. Yuck. My house is not a museum.. Some of the tubers have had to hire 24 hour security to stay safe, so I would never ever show the outside. You do your way and not worry about it. These people don't mop your floors for you. Love your content, thank you. And today you look extra pretty and bright.

I really liked how your craft table top turned out. It's such a reflection of you. I laughed when you said viewers watch while doing dishes... that's what I was doing! I like your variety of videos... Sat chats, reviews, and tutorials. Keep 'em coming!

Love the Sat Chats! Totally get the house tour issue--perhaps you can sketch the addition. I am not sure how you managed in a 1,000 sq foot home with 3 kids, but that basement is completely necessary. LOVE your table top! I also like the silly walks stamps--hilarious! We are MP fans as well. Have a great weekend!!

Hi Lindsay. Another fun (Sat-Chat).I’m in for more of them after the pandemic is over, HECK YEAH. 💯❤️💯❤️As for you doing a home tour it would be fun, but I’m sure your home reflects your family as all of ours do, so keep your home as private as you can. Some People can be unnecessarily cruel for absolutely no reason. Now your craft space I’d watch ALL the time. It fascinates me to see how you and others arrange your supplies and I can’t get enough of that. 😂😂. Have a great weekend and stay safe. Hugz

Hi Lindsay 🌸- happy to hear kitty is recovering. Sorry about those craft business cancellations. It’s real sad for all ladies who look forward to attending all these arts & crafts meetings. I know some people will teach on line, but not everyone can learn that way. 🙁 I agree not to share your home on camera. It’s a big security issue. ~ Great design idea for hubby’s birthday card. And finally, ✅ congrats on having your home improvements done. Big hugs from your crafty friend in NYC. 🍏

LINDSY! I can’t imagine you being impatient!🥴 the real reason I’m writing is to let you know that there is often asbestos mixed in with the “popcorn” on the ceilings. Our neighbors discovered the hard way by calling the city to find out if they needed a permit to do the ceiling. This ended up by them calling the people in the white suits to remove it. This for a house built in the early seventies. We are the consummate diy’ers and we just sprayed ours with a heavy duty spray paint. It was super messy, but by the time we were done the ceiling was concrete! The neighbor was watching the “men in white,” and asked them what the liquid they were spraying on the ceiling.(they would spray, then when the ceiling turned to goop they would easily scrap it off into a bucket. The workers got a big laugh because it is the powder on the ceiling that is so dangerous , so they got hazard pay for an easy job.⏯

Lyndsey, you are a great person and wonderful videos. I learn so much from you. Glad you are getting close to the addition being finished. Don't worry about not giving a house tour. I wouldn't either!! That's your family's space only. I wouldn't ask a person for that no matter how much they are my favorite utuber. Your doing great my friend. ❤️

I enjoy your SAT chats, too, hope you keep them coming. I like to listen to all your videos--even if I don't make all the projects. You are a very upbeat person and listening to you makes me happy. But I am bummed about the Bluprint, aka Craftsy classes. I have four of them in my library, including the one you did on watercoloring. I went through one of the classes today and took screen shots of the samples. This is the only way I know how to preserve the ideas. Luckily I did try to recreate the projects from most of them through the years, including yours, but I would love to have the videos for reference. If they would transfer the videos to KZitem, it would be no problem. Thanks for all you do as a "Crafty Influencer"!

Lindsay, I hear you about not wanting your home on display, one of my worst nightmares is that one of those TV make-over shows turns up on my doorstep while I'm resting from Lupus fatigue; they'd be salivating like a dog with a bone over potential "before" shots - me looking like death & my home mess/illness mess/life mess on display for the world to see & judge. There's a big difference between you inviting people to see projects on your channel, filmed in a separate part of your home & members of the audience asking to see your whole private life.

Thanks for telling us about the craftsy / blueprint change. I bought some classes on crafts and I need to go through and see him and see what I can do about downloading him. I appreciate your videos so much. And I totally understand your not wanting to put House videos up because of the negativity.

I vote for yellow for a mid-life crisis car, a really bright yellow. I do enjoy the Saturday chats. I'm not watching any review or haul videos - I tend to get bogged down in shopping instead of creating so I've banned myself from those videos. I mostly watch tutorials, watercolor tutorials in particular, since that's the skill I'm trying to develop. (Occasionally multimedia tutorials, if they include watercolor.) And I agree that you don't need to show any part of your house that you want to keep private. It's your house, not ours. I love the way you painted your table.

Wow! It's so awesome! The colours you mentioned are very close to my favourite combo. I found a kitchen done in yellow, red and aqua that I would love to do. I'm pretty sure I posted it on Pinterest and also have it as a screen saver on my computer. Love your style! :-)

I really enjoy your chatty videos. This one was timed just right, I was particularly down this morning with all the crud in the news. I live in Oregon, the governor of New York should not bring me to tears. So thanks to your chat (and the great storm we are having) I feel much better. And, please keep us informed on the craftsy thing.

I watch your tutorials when i exercise then watch again to do the project, i love them! Love your "Sat Chat" too it's fun and informative. Beautiful paint colors for your house, red in a dinning room will increase appetites... Maybe let us see your closet with the chandelier?! Sounds so cute.. I wallpapered my closet that turned into my craft room. LOL Your classes are so excellent and I am so glad i can take my time and go back when i want to and i love that you critique our work i learn so much and love that they are on the computer i am not good with the phone and all that ap stuff! I would rather be crafty then be on my phone all the time playing with aps. .

Possible suggestion: do a watercolor on paper that will fit your table. Seal it, then cover the painting and table with plexi (or glass if you have some extra money). You can change up the painting beneath when you want and the glass/plexi cleans up easily. If the plexi gets too scratched, it’s cheap enough to get another panel. I definitely don’t blame you for not showing your house-you give so much of yourself in your art and that is a very personal thing. It’s enough. 🥰. {{{Hug}}}}

When I get the "blues" I just push through, it doesn't last long unless we have had rain for 17 days in a row, yes, it sometimes happens in BC, there was one month where it rained nearly every day! It was horrible for me, my dogs and well, my yard too. It got so wet some plants even died. :( Nobody can be happy all the time, even if I won the lottery I would still have down days. We are human. You look lovely and thanks for the update on Craftsy as I have purchased two classes through them. I just went there and my profile is still there with the two classes, so hoping they keep that going.

Do they make houses without popcorn ceilings and hollow doors? Wow. 😀 Enjoyed! I love the red band in your hair. That drawing behind you is pretty too.
