I hate seeing crashes on the Interstates! Unfortunately those are way too common in the South. People drive way too fast above the speed limit! Monteagle is a beast to climb and decend with a 4 wheeler! I can't imagine how tough it is in a big rig! When I am driving Monteagle in my car, I make sure to give you trucks plenty of room and also drive just a little slower when passing you on this mountain!

I notice with my 430HP 3406B if I let the rpm's drop below 1600-1500, the EGT's climb quite high >1200 degrees. Better to downshift and be easy on the engine. 2000 RPM and the EGT's barely hit 1000. Even if you run it up against the governor that's fine and the EGT's will be only 900 orso.

I have a CB radio because Truck Drivers usually have the scoop on the road conditions. It seems like they are using them less everyday.. The only times I’ve heard them using it is if they are pissed off at something.. Example: Getting stuck on I-80 in Wyoming due to weather conditions then they use their CB’s to vent their frustrations towards each other by calling each other names etc..

I think the problem with the cb is we all used them to find out where the cops were back in the” good old days “ when the speed limit was 55.. now it’s 65 + in most all states, now drivers aren’t as concerned about the cops. I know I don’t have it on as loud as I used to. Hell I still run 2 radios in my truck but I don’t pay attention like I used to.

I have a theory why nobody is paying attention to the radio. It's that they're too busy talking on the telephone and not paying attention to what they should be doing. It drives me crazy when I see people yapping away on the cell phone when they should be concentrating on driving. For truck drivers I imagine that means listening to the damn radio so you can know what's up ahead of you. It must be very frustrating for you.

at 8:18 you do a little narration about how today's drivers simply aren't using the CB like they used to, and you'd be exactly correct. I always loved yakking on mine. ...but I must say that when you do your dialogues on these videos while you're driving like this, that your commentarys are very hard to hear, and I always have to turn the sound way up. Watch this video again (at that point) and you'll see what I mean. Have you ever considered getting yourself an external microphone, so that we can hear you loud & clearly?? I think it'd be a small price for such a significant gain in the quality of your videos...(which I really do enjoy) Love your programs (and the Boat Goals too!) Truck safe out there driver!

@fsctrucking
3 жыл бұрын
They want you to stop and check your brakes, nobody does and most drivers don't know how. But they do also want you to see the map of the downhill gradecand where the runaway ramps are. Also with you starting from a standstill the feel you are not going to accidentally overspeed down the hill. Many drivers blow past as they may be empty, know the hill well, or don't want to risk dealing with DOT if there in there looking for random inspections.
