I'm really hyped at the eventual potential of being able to remake The Huge Adventure and N-Tranced with this tool eventually.

Despite seeming like a mess at first, I'm still mindblown by the effort shown here. I remember when I modded the Boulders level for the first time, there were a few columns I moved (seemingly). Their art palette/pattern was moved, but the collision was still there. Movable platforms and stuff, do work when moved elsewhere (even exceptions such as the cloud platforms in Native Fortress whose collision is altered in-game) as their collision is more superficial. The same could be said for hazards as well. If anything, placing/altering map and/or environmental collision would make modding, more interesting long term. Those were my cents for the time being. Keep up the good work, ARD.

It's really impressive the amount of work you've done on this, and with a small amount of experience. I can relate to how frustrating this kind of stuff is, because I did a small game development project in a class last year and it was one of the most infuriating things I've ever done. This is an entire other level than that, must have been annoying as heck. I've been waiting for something like this, I love this games and it would be cool to have more levels to play with fan created stuff.

This is just seriously N-SANE (No pun intended!)! PLEASE keep going with this project, I was subscribed but missed the notification of this video coming out. The N-Sane Trilogy Community will absolutely take off with this, but you got to get this done ASAP so there will be a community to be able to work with this! One big suggestion I have when you get this out, is a manual needs to be created of how to use your Level Editor or a wiki of the level editor detailing on how to do everything which would be better like how Skyrim has with the Creation Kit. Otherwise we would just be guessing how to work with the tool. But I would suggest that once you get the level editor out first, they a community can be formed to work on the wiki maybe.

Objects need size specifications for textures. You could somehow use the coordinates to get perfect collision geometry.

11:55 ah i think i know what you mean. Some models, like the wooden plank thing have seperately generated collision geometry that exists seperately from the visual geometry, like a hitbox of some sorts, whereas the wall is using the exact same geometry for the collision detection that is also used for the visual rendering. Or at least they have the exact same shape.

@35:50 it totally doesn't matter, but I suspect when you did a find and replace of .ard into .nsane you used the regular expression search and replace, and when used in a regex, . matches any single character, so it matched hard and replaced it with .nsane.

For the collision subject. Is it possible to create new collision files for new/existing objects that don't have it? Like for the plank object that you kept moving that didn't have proper collision attached to it. Is it possible to make a custom file to attach to the plank so whenever you add it or move it it automatically generates the custom collision that matches the sprite? If the collision file exists - if it isn't attached to the plank, is it possible to find and attach* it? I've always dreamed of modding crash making custom levels, and just box remixes of existing levels, though the only modding experience I have is from making custom zombie maps on CoD: World at War back in the day xD Sorry if I'm asking terrible questions. So awesome seeing the progress of this project. I hope you never give up on it ❤️

Random question, do you know where the hidden Nitro crate is in NST Bug Lite? It has an extra crate compared to the PS1 version and it doesn't seem to be visible in the level, unlike the floating stack in the Snow Biz red gem path.
