I have an 05 RSX-S and I wasn't sold on vtec until I got my car. In first gear the torque is enough until vtec engages, once vtec is engaged it stays engaged unless you drop below 5800 rpm. If you shift at redline i.e. know how to drive, you will have all potential powerband throughout all gears. You really must drive one in order to appreciate its potential. That being said my favorite cars are tri-5 chevys and olds 442's. I love all cars foreign and domestic. Except Geo's of course.

It should be taken into consideration that this appears to be taking place at two in the mourning, or sometime late at night. This means a), the roads aren't heavily traveled, and b), no families, because what the hell kind of family with young children is out at 2:00AM going to a toy store? Streetracing isn't always safe, of course, but most racers at least take safety precautions. And in my opinion freeways are awesome in the sense that they are made for higher speeds, and wider lanes.

Out of every 100,000 civics produced globally, how many do you think are SI or type R, or in super rare cases Spoon? What's the percentage? It's lower than 5%. Not to mention that the SI model was not even offered in America for five years, or the type R until recently. long story short I am in no way wrong and speaking in a general term that Honda Civic is a budget car and is by no means fast around any kind of corner.. I can put good coilovers on a Ford Taurus and get the same results. Less than 5% of all civics produced could be considered a sports car of any kind.

I understand the money part of it. If high school guys in college or high school could go out and afford a mustang like they use to back in the day, they would. Not only is a car like a mustang really expensive, the insurance on it will be more than the mayment for a guy of that age. The only way to really afford a car at that age is to buy an import and tune it since they are cheap to buy and insurance

those are just valve timing systems. the thing about vtec is the lift. its a more aggressive cam profile which creates more power. of course you could just get a more aggressive cam but you sacrifice fuel economy and driveablity.
@Supersupra87
12 жыл бұрын
He´s talking about vtec as a bad thing... but its a concept that many brands have tried to copy. The vtec system is a genius invention... making use of the whole powerband to its fullest. Both economy and "powerful" when you want to... Im still pulling away from V8 muscle cars in my tuned 2.0l Vtec, and still running cheap when cruising... gas in europe cost $2.5 for a ~1/4gallons (1Liter), you wont be happy if you own a V8 muscle cars, lol.

I mean I don't see why street racing is illegal. If a pedestrian decides to come and walk/ ride bike on the street that's their fault, it's the "street" made for cars, not pedestrians. If someone street races they will obviously know what they are doing and should be aware of consequences both good and bad. Why do police care about our "safety"? We should do what we chose to satisfy our needs... Not have legal gangs (police) fuck with every move we make..

You realize that the engine would LOSE power down low if the intake valves fully opened at low RPM right? Have you ever seen the way VTEC engines are tuned? You do full dyno runs for both phases, then set the changeover point where the curves intersect, maximizing under-the-curve power for ALL RPM. The low RPM phase actually produces more power down low because smaller openings allow for faster air flux at low RPM. It stays on until it could benefit from a bigger opening. That's when it changes.
